Is there any way of adjusting the CPU fan speed from within Win7. Mines running at 938rpm. I’ve downloaded and installed ‘FanSpeed’, but that’s just a monitoring program, there’s no way of adjusting the actual CPU fan speed.

I’ve also tried Asus Probe II software, but again, that’s just a program for monitoring, not adjusting.

Can any one help?

Speedfan.

It'll work if your motherboard has the correct fan speed option selected in BIOS.

I have the CPU fan set to pwm control and use speedfan to reduce the speed to 60% when temps are at idle. Bit of a fiddle to set up though. Mine is a gigabyte board and I couldn't figure out their proprietary software at all.

Thanks for the reply.

My mobo is an Asus P6X58D-E and I don’t think it’s supported by Speedfan. I couldn’t find anything relating to PWM in the BIOS.

Does any one know for a program that will allow you to control the CPU fan speed from desktop?

Thanks.

Download AI suite from the Asus website, i have the exact same mobo, and use Fan Xpert which is apart of the AI suite of programs.

This will control the cpu and case fans.

Can you give me some help?

I’ve downloaded and installed AI Suite. Got it all working, but how do you adjust the fan speed? I want to set the CPU fan speed to 1100rpm.

Can you tell me how to do this?

Thanks.

To adjust to an exact speed, you need to know the rated fan speed at 12 volts and then calculate the voltage required at 1100rpm and apply that voltage. You can use hardware fan controllers to adjust the speed in this way.

Most software is temperature related and controls the fan speed based on the CPU temperature.

Why do you need 1100rpm??

If the fans are rated at 1100rpm, just apply 12v to them.

If using fan xpert go into the Cpu fan bit, there u can calibrate the fan if u so want to. Think you have to do this first to find the min and max speeds of the fan.

Then choose user profile and change the graph below to how u want it to run, and job done, or check the other profiles to see if they will run at the speed u want.

The 1100rpm bit was just an example. At the moment it’s running at 958rpm. I’ve noticed that the fan is still just as quiet at 1100rpm. So, I was hoping to adjust the fan speed so that it ran at 1100rpm all the time. My temps on idle are 36, 32, 36, 36. Perhaps I could get them down a little.

I still can’t work out how to adjust the fan speed in Asus Suite.

Have you got the fan xpert part of the suite, not sure if u have to download that separate or not.

As the profiles in Fan Xpert should be helpfull, especially the User set one.

Thanks guys,

Got it working now. I’ve set the fan at 1107rpm (close enough). It’s still silent and my temps have dropped slightly.

Thanks for the help and info.

Cheers
