Is there anything i can do ?

yeh i understand, but what im saying is they dont do unlimited, im on the internet every day virtually all day, allso we have a second computer, we download/stream music and movies all the time, with me who is constantly playing online games, 50gb is no where near enough. :( so im basically in **** street.

maybe you get such poor speeds because you have downloaded so much ? some/most? ISPs reduce your speed when you download a certain amount, even with unlimited packages
just a possibility

That's not how it works, the infrastructure is dealt with by BT Openreach, you cannot contact them directly as their contract is with your ISP, not you, your ISP can open a ticket with them with regards to a fault but you need to speak with your ISP with regards to this.

Threads like this remind me why I stick with Zen.

i want to ring BT and ask them about the exchange, to see if o2 was just telling me a load of bull about the Exchange being congested, because if it is actualy congested then i wont change ISP's, if it isnt then i will, BT are the only ones that can truthfully tell me if its congested

dammit, its a 18month contract too, jesus :( im not having this for another 12 months, funny how every time ive rang up it ends up being my fault, my router, or my phone line, and now lately its the bt exchanges fault.

what would you do if you were in this position ?

you have my info

my exchange http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WNKEL
http://www.ukbroadbandworld.com/broadband_availability.php?postcode=ch3+8by&phone=&filter=0

i dont want to make the same mistake again, i have been told to take it to trading standards and make them give me my code/key so i can change ISP's

The second link should not be used for reference when picking an ISP. It's probably there to earn commision as there are so few ISP's listed.

For other ISP rating sites, heres two examples
ISP Review top 10
DSL Zone UK

What I looked for when picking a replacement to O2 was no traffic shaping/throttling. So I could achieve my maximum download speed regardless of time of day. Monthly download limit wasn't a concern for me as I don't download much.

ISP's I considered included the following:
  • Fast.co.uk - simply to understand
  • ID Net - has different allowances for peak and offpeak
  • NewNet - expensive for lower monthly limits
  • Zen - considered the best
Other people will have further ISP's to recommend.

For all of the above you will might need your own ADSL modem router, as O2 will want theirs back. And not sure if you could get the O2 router to work with another provider.

If you got a MAC from O2, you could give that to your chosen replacement ISP so avoid having to an activation fee. You would just pay the monthly price of the package.

You could use the tool that Plus Net provide. Link to exchange checker

Not sure how useful that information is though.

They won't tell you anyway. The only part that would know whether there's backhaul congestion would be Wholesale and you're still not their customer.
The only people you can deal with in this are O2.

As for looking for ISPs you could, y'know, read the sticky thread...

Is there anywhere i can find how much GB ive used on my broadband ? so i get a rough idea of how much i use

EDIT, is this it

Uptime: 0 days, 12:00:42
