If any section of motorway doesn't have any lights on currently?

I want to go out and do some long exposure shots but I don't fancy wasting £60 in petrol to find that lights on it all the way!!!

Any ideas folks?

Many Thanks,
Jake

Motorways only tend to be lit in the proximity of junctions with other Motorways. Find a stretch in the middle of nowhere and you'll be fine.

Took that in September 06, when I first got my SLR :)

Hopefully tonight's will be a tad improved :p

Google earth?

Excellent suggestion

choose aerial photo and zoom into max zoom and you can quite clearly see if its got street lights on it or not.

behold a sample of Junction 27 of the m1

the shadow the lights cast can quite clearly bee seen.

not strictly true

the m1 for example is completely unlit all the way from Junction 27 to Junction 40. Least it used to be since they added the new bits around the M18 interchange.

but Junction 33 for sheffield central to Junction 40 will definately still be all unlit.
