Brief background then the Is it a bit weird bit.

Back in school I was an typical nerd and a girl had a crush on me. Being said nerd I was oblivious and nothing ever happened. Aged 25 one of my form mates had organised a 'post-uni reunion and I went along. The girl that had the crush on me called me out on not noticing her advances & that she still liked me. At the time I was in a relationship so again, nothing came of it & never saw her again.

Now for the potentially weird I'm now in my early 40s & her parents have messaged me & invited me to the girl's FUNERAL. She died of some rare neural disorder and created a list of people she wanted there. I asked if anyone else was listed from our school days, not one.

I'm I wrong for finding it all a bit out there?

Yep. Clearly it mattered to her, and her parents wouldn't have been in touch unless it did. Just do it, her life is gone and you have the rest of your life to live. One day out of it for her and her parents sake is nothing to you.
