Is this a good build ?

The OP could get this motherboard:

However the Asus M4A785TD-V Evo has an 8+2 phase VRM with cooling meaning it should handle even 140W TDP Phenom II processors with no issues.

Also the motherboard has all solid capacitors too.

I would probably go with the new hard disk for now. I would then add another 2GB of identical memory at a later date.

The OP would also need a 64 bit OS to take advantage of 4GB of RAM too.

You could always get a cheaper motherboard and get 4gb ram?

considering getting an AM2+ board and useing the memory that i have, ram seems to be realy exspesive atm so i might look to that option

my only concern would be how future proof is an AM2+ board going to be ? does anyone know ?

Geil 8500 4X

I think going for an AM2+ board will be better, can anyone recomend one for me ? with the parts im getting.

Out of interest what is your current build??

4GB of PC2-8500 RAM would be ideal for an AM2+ build!!

This is an AM2+ build I would be looking at:

Phenom II X4 955BE ~ £130

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-244-AM

Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD3P ~ £86

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-199-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1482

This has an 8+2 phase VRM with cooling, all solid capacitors and can do symmetrical Crossfire at PCI-E 2.0 8X/8X.

Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB ~ £40

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-081-SA

OCZ StealthXStream 600w ~ £60

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-023-OC

This PSU has a pair of PCI-E power connectors so you can run a pair of graphics cards.

NZXT M59 ~ £46

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-020-NX

The total comes to around £362 excluding postage.

This setup has a good motherboard for overclocking the Phenom II X4 955BE(with a suitable aftermarket cooler) and also is Crossfire capable.

However if you are not bothered about overclocking and want to run one graphics card only I would get the following setup:

Phenom II X4 955BE ~ £130

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-244-AM

Asus M4A77D ~ £60

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-376-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1482

This motherboard has all solid capacitors.

Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB ~ £40

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-081-SA

Corsair CX400W ~ £37

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-CS

NZXT M59 ~ £46

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-020-NX

Gainward GeForce 9800 GT Green Edition 512MB GDDR3 ~ £65

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-109-GW&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=

The total comes to around £378 excluding postage.
