Well every time I open and exit a game the screen blinks for a second in black. Was getting worried a bit, so I reinstalled the drivers again and its still doing it :(. Someone said its due to the resolution but I have all my games on max res.

It does it on all games but most noticeable being Guild Wars. Another problem is that when I turn Vertical Sync on (in GW) the screen gets white for a second with other fancy lines.

Wondering if anyone else experiences these problems?

Ive had a similar problem since I updated to the latest Catalyst drivers. Screen goes black for about 2-3 secs when I alt-tab or quit games etc.

Edit: nm sorted it now. Did away with CCC and put Tray Tools on instead. Problem seems to have gone.

p.s Hope you sort your problem. You might have more joy in the gfx card forum though.

Is that it? Blinks for a few second in black! Why is it worrying you?

Doesn't sound bad to be honest. Doesn't even seem like that much of an annoyance.

This has been going on on my X1800XT since i've had it. I think it was to do with going between 2D and 3D clockspeeds, as when i run WoW in a window, it doesnt seem to do it, suggesting it is being rendered with 2D clockspeeds... I dunno.

Phew. I fixed it now. Had to use my old drivers that came with the card. New things never likes to work for me.

Yeah, that was a close one. The older drivers probably have a truckload of other issues that have since been fixed, but at least you screen doesn't blink black for a second now.

My screen goes black for a few second too. I've never heard anything bad about the computer doing this before. It probably is something to do with the graphics card adjusting for the different display modes or something like that.

I'd rather use the new drivers too, less bugs ;)

Mine does that too, and I'd guess it does it with a lot of other people too.

Nothing to worry about at all. Personally I'd go back to the latest drivers and get on with your life. Worry about the whales, global warming, not your screen flicking black for a second. :p

I sorted it. Did away with Catalyst Control Centre and just downloaded the driver only and put ATI Tray Tools on instead. Problem has gone.
