Is this out of order?

Party pooper tbh, remember when you were young... let the kids have fun and don't be bitter about it, it doesn't sound like its a regular occurance. I'm sure you can miss a few hours sleep once in a while.

This ^^. Its not as if its a bunch of teenagers playing loud music and acting like morons, they are kids having fun, stick some relaxing music on and leave them be.

Just let it go. Yeah, you have work and so on, but they're kids having a good time and not intentionally causing harm. A bit of tolerance goes a long way.

1am tends to be my own personal limit for this sort of thing.

As has already been said though, it's not teenagers doing it as they don't care about others, it's kids having a good time. Personally I'd go over and have a friendly word with the parents, but not go further. Getting the police involved for drunk teenagers is one thing, but it's not worth it for a kids sleepover!

I have upvc double glazed windows and can hear everything as if the window was open. They are pretty much below my window.

I'll make sure they know what time i am up tomorrow.

As for ear plugs i haven't got any and why should i? It's 1am on a Wednesday morning.

What's with all the hate against teenagers ?

Tbh this is exactly the reason I will do whatever I can to live in a detached standalone house, can't stand neighbors moaning about everything. Luckily my current neighbors aren't such arses, one side are actually nice and don't care if I make a lot of noise ( their son does the same ) and music and the other ones simply don't complain.
I'd really be ****ed if they called the cops on me because my mates are over once in a while. Would hate to have a lot of OcUK-ers as neighbor.

So rather than pulling the covers over your head and trying to get back to sleep you thought you'd fire the computer up and post about it?

What do you mean by a short fuse when you're tired? Surely you wouldn't be thinking of taking your keyboard around and beating some little children up merely because they're having what sounds like a fun sleepover, would you?

That's not necessary.

bit harsh,

the guy has been trying to sleep for the past 3 hours getting more worked up about some little kids bext door. has work in 4 hours and has had no sleep. i think its his right to be pretty ****** off.

like he said if it was a weekend then fair enough.

I would be annoyed if I was being kept awake and I had work in the morning. I think pretty much everyone would have an issue with it. 11pm is too late be causing a racket - it's about respecting the neighbours, and those who have lives to lead.

If it was the weekend, that's a different issue.

A racket? All I got from the thread is that there's some LITTLE CHILDREN having a sleepover in a tent. It's not like they're lobbing bottles around and bricking windows is it?

Ok, it's midnight, i'm lying wide awake in bed and I have to be up in 5 and a half hours for work.

I went to bed at 10, to be woken up at 11 by next door. They have a tent up in the garden and the little kids and their friends are obviously kipping in it overnight. They are making a racket and i'm now starting to get annoyed. I don't want to go round, I have a short fuse when I am tired.
Is this out of order or am I being a 'part pooper'

you dont know what they are doing. making a racket is making a racket.

if this was a group of 4 17 year olds "making a racket" youd be ****** off then wouldnt you

Not really, I used to be a teenager myself and as long as they're not smashing bottles, breaking into cars or killing the local cats then I'd let them be. We were all young once you know.

At the end of the day, they're little kids, it's summer holidays.

If they start doing it every night regularly, only then have friendly word with the parents.

yea i still am ;)

but if im going to make a racket then i will always keep it down after a decent time, or atleast warn my neighbors before

17 Year olds should know better, but some leniency must be given because they are just kids and sometimes get over excited.

This. It is courteous to inform those who might be disturbed, when there is going be loud noises etcetera. If you can't/don't wish to keep it down for whatever reason, that is.

TBH I've always found that people who are trying to sleep are just looking for an excuse to blame not being able to on something/somebody else. If you're tired enough you'll sleep through a gun battle.

I'd worry more if they suddenly went quiet.

What Cybermyk said.

Its wonderful to hear children playing naturally. Its a rare occurance and its to be cherished. Don't get me wrong, it can be annoying and I sympathis, but please be patient for their sake*

*and if you get put into a home, they are probably the ones to clean your ****ty nappies. :D
