Is this RAID setup possible?

Hi all,

Just out of curiousity, I was wondering if you could have a RAID 0 Setup with 2 drives, and another RAID 0 setup with 2 Drives, but then have both of these RAID setups as RAID 1? So if one of the RAID 0s died, then you could save your data as you have the other RAID 0. Hmmm......

That's a fair point, Raid 0+1 isn't really used so much because performance wise it's equivalent to Raid 1+0 - but it's less tolerant to failure.

So the way you set it up is you have 2 Raid 1 setups of mirrored drives, then stripe them with Raid 0.

(I don't think the onboard RAID hardware typically supports RAID 01 anyway - it's kind of pointless)
