Is This Right?

Hi Guys,

I got a new SSD yesterday its my 1st one and I have just used a benchmark
programme on it which has confused me. I have the OCZ Agility 3 120Gb, on
the OcuK site it says write speed is 525 and read speed is 500.

These are the speeds im getting though?

Is that right?

I have it plugged into the 6Gb sata port on the mobo its in ACHI mode in the BIOS. I have disabled things like defrag. only other thing I have done is
reduced the paging file size down to 4096.

Any help with this would be great guys.

Run Atto disk benchmark and see what you get there.

No, you are getting much lower speeds than you should.

Is it plugged into the native Intel ports or a Marvel port?

In storage drives on Device Manager it says Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller

On my motherboard its plugged into the 6Gb Navy blue sata port.

There are 2 grey ports as well but dont know what they are for.

P.S. Just looked the grey ports are 6Gb SATA port with intel controller.

Why does the Marvell run so much slower? Surely if it's rated at 6GB/s you should get that or close enough?

Another thing, not sure if it makes much difference or not but are you using sata3 cables?

Yes m8 brought a brand new Akasa SATA III 6Gb cable with the drive.

I always wondered this

As the Marvell 6GB/s sata ports seem to be pretty much useless and not worth having..

Their is no difference between any type of SATA cable, they're all the same.
