Is this the end of SLI/corssfire?

very interesting. would be good to think that future upgrades could keep existing cards and just double up (and some) on GPU power from any manufacturer.
 
It's never been a really viable option for most people though- only for enthusiasts or bleeding-edge systems. Has there ever been a time where, for the huge majority of users, it wasn't better to get one better card than to go with a dual card setup? Not that I noticed. If dual card setups were suddenly un-invented tomorrow, who would cry? Not many.

You could probably call the HYDRA Engine CrossFire-SLI, though you might run into a spot of legal trouble in trying to do so. Get the lawyers on this lol
