is this the real R600?

I can tell you now without even looking at that link that its the OEM version as the R600 is smaller than the GTX, we've been over this umpteen times in here. :p

i could only find pics of the chip, not the card itself

Edit: Just found more info on it

OEM Version is 13.5" long
Retail Version is 9.5" long

ive had 1 case since i first got XP, only upgraded the actual electrical components. and its still got enough room to fit a 13.5" R600 in it :P

Maybe if they made the heatsink/fins go further up the heatpipes, they could've had a shorter heatsink. Then they might have been able to fit the fan over the PCB rather than off the PCB, and it'd suck air from below rather than above...

atleast it hasnt hit the 3-slot cooler stage yet, you would need a large case for that or there will be no space for even 1 standard PCI card

I wonder if in the future when every house in the world is online that every house will get an in-built PC, like into a cupboard or something. Phased, overclocked and with expansion slots for the upcoming releases of the monster cards. Surely a cupboard will be big enough  :p ;) :D .

On a serious note though. I really hope ATI get this card out soon. I'm waiting to choose between the 8900GTX and X2800 XTX for my next upgrade. I would've jumped on the G80 bandwagon but my x1900 is still no lacker and it plays most of my games @ 1680 x 1050. Company of Heroes stresses it though and my m8 says the G80 runs it perfect @ 1920 x 1440 with full eye candy.

It's time for an upgrade it seems but now I have to wait AGAIN. I first got hammered by ATI in the wait of the X800 XT PE. I just hope people remember that before jumping on AMD's backs. ATI messed up before but remained in a very strong position still and it will happen again. I think everyone has forgotten that the g80 is Nvidia's first real card as all the 7 series were weaker with no AA & HDR support coupled along with not-so-great image quality but were still getting compared to ATI's real cards. No matter what happens with these 2 giants it's really hard to see one of them drop out or to be totally defeated. We will be housing these 2 major companies for a very long time still.

No matter what 8900 or x2800 will play my games perfectly for a little while. Just whoever is better at the time will get my money. Get to it ATI and well done to Nvidia in this round. HDR & AA and better image quality with double the power of the 7900GTX (around double).

Wouldn't it just be great if ATI & Nvidia's R & D teams got together for a project. Lets hope that a newcomer in the graphics card market can lure them away and give us what we deserve. (I need to lay of the weed and stop talking crap)

the extended length card(and as i understand the pcb is the same just the sink) is for APPLE ONLY. maybe some other computers in the future, its that length as apple like to mess around with their designs, the fan i think has a supporter on it so they obviously design a case and setup where longer card rather than thicker sink works. there is about 0.0000002% chance of finding these available anywhere. its not OEM, its a specific make for one actual OEM, not a whitebox/store brand style OEM, they are very different things.

have you ever seen the retail cost of a card, then compared that cost for exact same card for use with an apple computer? go do it and work out why no one will stock that card, ever and no one will buy one off the apple site ;)
