Hi Guys
Just wanted to know your opinions on this (especially any hp 2207 owners).

Is this too much back light bleed even for a TN panel, should i take it back for an exchange?

It does seem brighter from the bottom during dark scenes and games.

Thanks for any advice.

LCDs looking grey with the lights out is pretty normal, it's more the unevenness there that's the problem. Try watching a 2.35:1 movie and see if you can notice the bright spots at the bottom centre, which will be in the black bars. Or try playing a dark game and see if you can notice the brighter areas.

The bit at the bottom does look unusually bad. It all depends on whether you find it a problem when using it.

My whole screen has grey hue with a black background in a dark room samsung 226bw.

If it has 0 dead pixels and no stuck pixels and you are not taking it back for a refund to get an spva or s-ips screen i would say no as what if you get a new one and it has stuck or dead pixels.

My Samsung 226BW has worse bleed than that, I despise but it's a good monitor and an S panel so I wouldn't dream of an RMA. If it affects any games you play or films you watch then I'd say send it back.

My brightness is @ 24% which is pretty low, but the weird thing is the bleeding seems to get better the longer the monitor stays on
I've read this sort of thing before - people saying their screen had loads of bleed when they first got it but within a few weeks it was mostly gone, so it can improve. Give it a few days and see how it goes. As C64 said though, a couple of dead pixels would probably be worse.

My 2407 had pretty bad bleed like that but it was limited to the top right hand corner of the screen, it was enough to irritate me though so I'm getting it replaced by Dell on Monday.

If you're not happy with your screen then I'd get it swapped out.
