IS VISTA up to scratch yet for games?

There was lot of same crap when XP was new out, esp modem drivers etc.

I had to run Win 2000 drivers for some hardware and also had Creative Live 5.1 Gamer issues till months later for patches/new drivers/new APP's.

ITS OFFICIAL, VISTA SUCKS ASS!! now just accept that fact, I've ran it, and so have my mates and we all agreed they we would rather lick dead dogs knackers than use Vista, we promptly uninstalled it from our machines and installed XP and we promised never to mention the embarrassing time we used Vista as an OS, the official OS for dummies.;).

Do Shut up.

If you don't have any problems with XP, why upgrade? There'll be a DX10 hack out for XP soon enough I'm sure.

How? XP and Vista are on completely separate kernels. Its like saying there will be a hack to run xbox360 on PC.

The only way to get DX10 in DX9 would be to use an emulator, and id rather not bother.

Yeah well its IMO, just because your a Vista fanboy, don't mean we all have to love it, don't like my posts, you know where the ignore tab is.;)

And what does that make you then, compltetly right?

To me it sounds like your more of a Vista hateboy than we are fanboys.

I aint a Vista fanboy, I told MS how much it sucked in my official reports at RTM time as I knew what it was supposed to be as Codename Longhorn not 2 years late and halfbaked.

Its improving so is support from vendors and I see no real issues now esp for gamers.

I cant complain as I learned by testing it and got a free copy which I did go back on my vow and open before SP1 as I wanted to play new games lol. (only after learning SP1 is no big deal).

Using vista x64 ultimate. It's not a system hog, everything runs fine, once set up. Games run fine with no difference in performance. All the safety controls can be turned of if they annoy you.

Most people who hate it are still using reasons from the original launch, that have been fixed.

all you people who are saying that vista is rock solid stable, no BSODs and all that.

did you ever have BSODs with XP?

i've been running XP for a LOOOOOOOOONG time. i've seen maybe 2 BSODs that weren't Hardware or 3rd party software related.

before vista was released, i'm reasonably sure this was the consensus for all XP users!?!

Could someone tell me if its worth upgrading to VISTA yet. I have the 64 verrsion on ultimate but have stuck with XP at the moment.

I just dont want to swap all my games over and find out it isnt running properly yet.

thanks

32 bit works fine here -games just as fast as with XP 32 bit.

There were many BSOD and "System had recovered from serious error" etc, back when XP was new and no service packs and hardware was not as good back then.

sure, when XP was new, it wasn't as stable as Windows 2000 SP4 or whatever.

but XP SP2 is as stable as i could ask for. i'm currently running a laptop with XP SP2 which has NEVER crashed. ever. i've been using it (with some quite demanding programs) for over 6 months and i've never seen the dreaded "STOP:xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx" error or the fated "your system has recovered from a serious error" message on startup.

Well give Vista a chance its still No SP, SP1 was kinda normal SP for XP, SP2 was nearly like a new OS (dont believe me, go read real MS sites),

XP64 is again newer as written with the Win 2003 Server Kernal.
