I ask this to anyone who has worked there in the past. As a student i hear a lot of people talking abut applying for Gamestation; but none of them have actually worked there.

any thoughts?

You would work with people who have an interest in computer games but aside from that it is just a retail job with the public treating you like crap, just like any other retail job really.
I haven't worked in a gaming shop btw.

game always seemed more profesional than gamestation...
the gamestation near me looks like a trampy college dorm inside and behind the counter is just a massive mess

Yeah i always got that impression, no light and no inspiration as far as gaming goes, if i went in not knowing what to get, id come out with nothing thats for sure. Why is it all grey :( are they trying to re-enact the basement?

A couple of kids at the youth centre worked at 'Game' and I was shocked to find out that all staff were searched before leaving
NO WAY would I work for a company that treated you like a criminal/thief, shocking behaviour on Games behalf imho!!

Hardly treating you like a criminal.

They are a company and I'm sure they've had lots of incidents where employees have stolen before. If you have nothing to hide, you don't mind being searched.

I had a mate that worked in Game and regularly left with his bag stuffed to the brim every day he worked, games, subscription cards, promotional keys, anything that wasn't nailed down. I wouldn't say it's an unjustified policy for them to bring in.

Do OcUK search you every time you leave? :p

Of course! I am sure many places with high value/easy selling stock would do this. If we were not scanned, we could just put a few OEM processors in our pockets! Not that we would anyway as it would be stupid losing a great job over that.

I can't believe employees would assent to being searched, crikey. Innocent until proven guilty, surely?

m sure its to do with discrimination, if you're going to search one person you have to search them all kind of rule, even if you suspect only one persons

I worked for game back in 2003 and even back then we had a security wand that had to be waved over us before we left for breaks or at the end of the day.
