a lot of my mates are raving about legion, lots of things to do.

I don't have time to play it myself unfortunately, otherwise I'd be giving it a go.

Not worth it. The pvp is basically a reaction time simulator, it's unbalanced and, worst of all, lacks good counter mechanics and skill shots. Play Overwatch or dota/lol for a decent pvp experience.

The pve is only worth it if you commit a lot of time and join a well organised guild with comms, raiding plans etc. It's a time sink I personally do not have.

I would play it. As lots of new stuff has been added. Even if it is more of the same stuff changed a bit to make it feel fresh and new.

But I have a feeling like myself you will be bored of it all with in a couple of months. But you will have had your fun out of it by then, so go for it.

Dont agree with that at all.

I'm quite enjoying random battlegrounds at the moment. Seems fairly well balanced with the new mechanic balancing out gear(somewhat). Halfway to prestige 5. :)

PVE raids are also easily accessible to all levels of raider.

Fair enough that you enjoy it but my arguments stand. Bgs are a clusterfest mainly based on zerging and spamming CC. There's little/no communication or cooperation, each player does their own thing because the game doesn't promote or force cooperation like Mobas do. Healers are assigned randomly/unevenly etc. In terms of PvP, Wow's system is ancient compared to the current competition.

As for raiding, if blowing your cooldowns n not standing in the fire is enough for you to provide enjoyment, sure it's ok. If you want more, ie communication, coordonation, group effort, you won't find it with casual players.

I don't agree with that either. High level Arena's and Rated Battlegrounds need a lot of communication and you need to know what to interrupt and when to interrupt.

Whilst normal (unrated) battlegrounds can be a zerg fest, for the most part you still need to work as a team to win. We're talking Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Eye of the Storm here, not Alterac Valley. I do unranked BG's quite often as it's a good source of Honor (for the Prestige system) and I can safely say I haven't had a single game where there's been zero communication at all.

Raiding isn't a time sink either, you can still raid twice a week (2-3hrs a night) as a 'casual' player and still clear current content on the highest difficulty. It's only the guilds that go for World First's (Method, Serenity etc.) where you need to spend a lot of time going through tactics and coming up with the best raid composition.

It's a great game if you have people to actually socialise with while playing. People I used to play with end of last exp, thus I pop on every now and then, but don't know anyone playing anymore.

I haven't played seriously since 2010.

Would there be any point rocking up with my chars as they were or should I re-roll? I remember a lot of profession farming and don't fancy doing all that again!

Also, do I need to get Legion straight away or can I level up to that first?

You can level to 100 bud, which is what I'm slowly doing on all my toons.. Then I'll think about getting Legion and which toon to progress forward with.

I did this a while back, but got to 64 and got very bored simply as all the areas are not balanced to how fast you level. So you do about a quarter of the areas quests then find you have to move on again. And then you have the option to do dungeons. Which boost you a level or 2 at a time. Which then makes it even more annoying. Spend 30 mins finding an area you'll only be in for an hour or wait for the next dungeon.

I actually got back into WoW after a ten year gap just before xmas, the server I'm on is pretty crowded but not overcrowded, PvP in WoW I never really got into unlike Rift which I personally enjoyed its PvP 100x better then WoW.

I have had about eight guild offers on my level 67 Alliance Dwarf Shaman but quite happy to be on my own for a bit, had the usual 110 level hordes camping and ganking low level 60 players in Outland hellfire area (60s area) when they try to capture the three towers,(took me 24 hours to complete, got help from high level alliance players).

I had a level 63 horde DK try to kill me at my level 60, but I got lucky with a lightning attack that threw him off the cliff and he died lol, died a few times myself from ganking and high levels however (ie one hit and dead).

Getting back to the main question, down to the person in question if it's worth it, quite a few changes since last time I played but it's holding my interest for now.

Legion areas apparently scale with your current level I heard in a video I watched last night.

I might re-roll this weekend, sod it. Been too long and I used to love it.

If you like out leveling the areas within 30 mins and being bored stupid. Then yes its worth it.

It been ridiculously nerfed to make it so easy to do anything now. You can level to max within a very short time. Get into a guild that raids and you will be kitted quick too.

Depends what you want from the game really.

A challenge. Sounds like it's not worth then.

It's as challenging as you want it to be, arguably the game at the moment is the most challenging it has been since vanilla.

Have you, since you played Legion found your self hovering around a town shouting out for people to party up to finish a quest? Or simply just flashing through mobs like their paper?

If you want that Vanilla experience where it takes you 4 weeks to get level 60, then go sign up to Elysium.

Legion is the best expansion since Lich King imo. You've always got something to do, and the zones are brilliant. You certainly don't out level them in 30 minutes. 100-110 took me 4 days.

As Ayahuasca said, it's as challenging as you want it to be. The challenges are in high level Mythic+ keys and doing Mythic raids.
