Is WoW worth it?

Levelling is pretty easy.
Legion zones and dungeons(some) scale to your level.
Ton of solo content.
Ton of group content.

Normal instances are easy enough.
Heroic bit harder.
Mythic harder.
Mythic+(higher levels) can be a real challenge.

Same with raids, normals not that hard but there is plenty of challenge for those who want it.

I used to play wow when cata came out but then stopped shortly after.

My issue is that at the end I had no one to do the raids with to get better gear and to progress further.

none of my friends played the game so i was on my own and had no clan to join.

I spent most of my evening sitting in town trying to find a group to join then be told i don't have the achievements so no one would allow me to run with them in the group.

So unless your in a active clan or have friends that play on a regular basis i wouldn't bother, i enjoyed the leveling but when the end game requires groups only and no solo content its pointless

True but I do find it a little elitist.. I don't have the best GS or the best achievements etc, I just wanna have a "go" so to speak, most guilds are a little more focused than that.

You will find there are plenty of guilds out there that are not Hardcore and will certainly let some one who needs experience in to raid with them. Everyone started off not knowing what they are supposed to be doing at some point. Ask around, look on the guild forum on the WoW forums, MMO champion is a good one too.

Edit: Iirc I saw a post on possibly the general forum on the wow site advertising not a guild as such but for players who are not in a guild. You could be from any server with or without experience on raiding. Basically, you signed up and added like minded players to your BN list and arrange raids and groups for other stuff. I thought it was a good idea. You can still form raiding parties with players from other servers.

Edit 2: thread here.

So, I've been bored recently, with a load of games. Just another patch of nothingness.

Playing through older games, recently tried FF online, but it just lost charm after a few weeks of play as it didn't seem that great end game.

I installed WoW again and just played a character, up to level 15 at the moment and loving it. The game feels entirely different. I want to resub and get Legion, but combined it's £40+!

Is it worth it? I'm on Defius Brotherhood and don't know anyone that plays anymore.

WoW is meh.

If you like Elder Scrolls world, questing and more casual game, try Elder Scrolls Online.

It has great storylines, with exploration and various delves and public dungeons. Is B2P without paywalls, except the DLCs.

However the main game is huge and you are looking for around 1000 hours of gameplay before you even have to get the DLCs for more questing & exploration areas, let alone Cyrodiil, which is a huge area (bigger than the Oblivion map) for PVP and PVE.

Also bear in mind. Is VERY casual, so you can happily craft your own gear all way to the end, if you aren't a min-maxer for competitive end game.
But that isn't needed while you go through the content or normal group dungeons. (1 per area).

I went back to wow. Found it ok for a small pass time, but it is far too easy to gear up. Brilliant for casual people although it isn't what it used to be.

Stopped playing now as I have other things going on. If you're bored and need something for the boredom fix then you may enjoy it. Though, nearly everyone these days has brilliant gear the only rareity now is mounts lol

I unsubbed late last year. About a month before Legion was released. I never really had time or the inclination to boot it up and play, plus I couldn't afford the Legion expansion at the time. Still can't tbh. Yesterday, after having a blast on Elysium Vanilla servers I downloaded the retail game again and logged in. I could play with my level 20s and below as it was an inactive account. I started a new Orc Monk, equipped all the looms I had got to level 10 in 36 minutes. On Elysium it was going on for 3 hours before I managed to get to 10. The speed at what you level at which is ridiculous in retail. Even without looms it pretty fast.

When I was leveling my orc on vanilla server when I reached Sen jin Village there where tons more quests to do, at least more thing to collect or kill per quest compared to retail now, such as Makura eyes, Zalazane, trolls to kill, that skull thing all from Echo isles. Nothing like that now iirc the quest count from Sen jin last night was 5. In vanilla it was going on 10 maybe a couple more.

It's a very good game and the updated graphics which I noticed last night compared to vanilla are fantastic, yeah they are not like current amazing gfx but they are fitting into the style of the game.

For anyone who wants to start fresh of juts roll a new toon, make sure you sign up to that Discord Fail Train on the official wow forums. I have heard nothing but praise about it. I may even try it myself if I resub.

It's as challenging as you want it to be, arguably the game at the moment is the most challenging it has been since vanilla.

I disagree having cleared current content multiple times. the hardest part of wow is finding a like minded capable group of people who share the same goal.

I disagree having cleared current content multiple times.

So you've cleared current content on the Highest difficulty?

the hardest part of wow is finding a like minded capable group of people who share the same goal.

That's what the looking for guild forums, reddit and multiple discord groups are for.

I stopped playing sometime in Dreanor had a 100 Shaman, but at Christmas several of our gaming group got back into it, and bought Legion.

They have made it very easy for people to catch up, you can get things called heirlooms that boost your XP you get for quests etc, addon that provide power leveling guides, so you can get from 1-110 very very quickly if you wanted.

Getting into dungeons and raids is easy as there is a built in finder for that now, pick a random one, or specific one, set if your DPS, Tank, Healer and wait for the invite to come through. I play on Silvermoon so a busy server and get into dungeons pretty quickly.

There are lots of achievements you can do now and its nice to get them completed and those achievements can award bonuses etc.

Is it worth it? For me at the moment yes it is, £10 a month for hours and hours of entertainment is worth it, I don't often go to the movies or out drinking, and if I am playing WoW I am not buying plastic crack aka Games-Workshop stuff :)

I am tempted to actually purchase the game again (warcraft bundle. Inc Warlords for £9.99). Make a brand new account, no looms, achievements, mounts etc. Start from the beginning again. Actually level first aid, fishing, cooking and two other professions depending on what class I play from the off.
