Register Background Identify Error Coins Media About The undated 20p
Did you know that some of the shiny new 20p coins are a rare error and The London Mint Office will pay you £50 for one?

How it happened: Last year there was an incredibly unusual lapse in the strict quality control at the Royal Mint. They are striking Britain’s new design circulating coinage and a batch of 20p coins were issued with mis-matched sides. The result is a batch of 20p coins without a date.

Identifying one of these rare 20p coins: Not all the new 20p coins are error coins – in fact, very few of them are. To be an Undated 20p it must have the new design on the front, and on the Queen’s head side the date must be missing

None here :(

"The London Mint" is just some random company and has nothing to do with the minting of coins in this country.

If it's not a scam, they are probably hoping they can get all of them and drip feed the collector's market at stupid prices?

I had a few 20ps like this, I put them in the vending machine. Mars bar now > £50 in future lol

Of course, I didnt know they were messed up because I dont spend my time looking at coins for extended periods of time lol

Was on BBC breakfast this morning, they also mentioned there was a (1983?) 2p that had the words "new pence" rather than "pence" and one of these was supposed to have sold for £600 or so?

Whaaat? All 2ps have "New Pence" on them

You mean it had just "Pence" rather than "New Pence"?

Edit: Confused now, Googling images of 2ps says otherwise they have "Two Pence" on them for the majority but all my 2ps (all 2 of them) in my dish have "new pence" on them, am I rich!?
