Hey All

I am having major problemos with my custom made computer and ready to go ATI if i dont get this working. Here is the problem.

Lets start off with the spec of my comp.

Coolermaster HAF 932
Asus Striker ii Extreme 790i
Yorkfield Q9450 2.66MHZ
4gb DDR 3 1800MHZ Corsair Dominator GT
1 X XfX Geforce GTX 285 1gb Overclockers Edition
1 x 500gb HDD
2 X 750gb HDD
DVD Writer
Blu Ray Reader
Windows 7 32 Bit

My Problem is, no matter what game I try to play or if i run a 3D Mark 06 Benchmarking tool, it doesnt allow me to do it, it will go to the full screen then it freezes, returns back to the desktop and I get an error message saying "Your Nvidia driver has stopped responding and has now successfully recovered".

I have tried downloading ALL the different versions of this driver off Nvidia including there Beta version but can't seem to get this bugger working.
I have tried lowering my settings in the gaming but nothing is working.

This issue only happens when I am trying to put a game on OR mainly when I am youtube putting a video on full screen (not always but frequent to happen) and randomly when I use my computer (doesn't happen often but it does happen). The main 3 games I am trying to play is FAR CRY 2 (Came with my graphics card) COD MW 2 & CRYSIS.

Anyone have any idea of how to resolve this issue! Ive had COD MW 2 for 2 weeks now and tempted to just sell the bugger now!

Cheers

Hmm...

Well firstly there is no point in you trying to lower your in game graphics settings as that will not be the issue because the GTX285 has more than enough power to play these games on high...

Other than that, i would suggest downloading the latest drivers, checking your connections but as you have said you have downloaded all the latest drivers...

The only thing i can think of, is that it is faulty...

I had 2 x 8800 GTX cards, then i upgraded to this card and was planning to do a tri SLI GTX 285! But if i can't get 1 working properly, theres no point for the big setup.

Could it be issues with the MB to the graphics card -

Also noticed - Direct 9 games work, but not so good Direct 10 games... so compatability..

The same happened with your old card...

If you have noticed that dx9 games works fine on the card but anything above doesn't... Maybe you should try downloading dx10 externally from the software...

Or if that doesn't work, then i guess its down to another piece of your hardware...

Here we go, now strangley enough, i found direct x 9 and 11 but not 10, it has installed the direct x 11, would that make a big impact on my graphics card not working?

I have just discovered that windows 7 as standard installs direct x 11, so therefor I have no way of uninstalling it! sheesh, this is silly. :(

All games installer will install the appropriate DX needed to run the game, thus, there's no need for you to download any particular version of direct X application.
Windows 7 support Direct X11 but its also backward compatible with the previous direct X releases. I have an Asus GTX 285 and am running Windows 7 64 bit and I have'nt had any problem playing games so far.

Step 1 - Fresh install of windows
Step 2 - Check everything is physically OK with your card, there might be a loose power connection etc etc
Step 3 - Install latest nvidia drivers and latest DirectX
Step 4 - Play games :)

Yh i will give it a go now - I have updated this before minus the bios the asus site themselves say i have the most up-to-date bios at the moment.

I just think this is all a pain, surely when you build a comp from scratch you shouldn't encounter problems like this?

Like another funny thing is I am unable to go to 64bit Windows 7 as it says it is incompatable. I think i may have a dodgy MB to be honest.

Shedman - i be truthful this machine has only recently been freshly installed when i got a new graphics card and when the games wasn't working, then i checked the card.

All the latest Direct X and NVIDIA drivers are in this baby. :(

You list everything in your machine bar your power supply, it could be you do not have enough power to run your card with the rest of your kit
