It begins...

Just waiting for 3dMark 06 to finish downloading then up to 1.5V, see what happens!

By the way, Core Temp 0.94 is reporting Core 0 @ 27C and Core 1 @ 28C. Room temp is 18.5C (cold!)

Speedfan 4.31 is reporting 36C and 20C for CPU and System.

What should I believe?

Vcore now at 1.3875 or around there. Seems stable at 405FSB, 8x Multi, 4:5 RAM (1010MHz) @ 4-4-4-12.

G(MCH) @ +.1
FSB @ +.1
PCIE @ +0, 105MHz

With CPU up to 1.525, FSB up to +.3, G(MCH) up to +.3, my FSB wall seems to be 430MHz (Even with 7x multi).

Temps are below 40C at any of these voltages.

Can't get 9x multi at 400FSB either =(

Drop your RAM back to 1:1 and see if it's any better.

And I'd trust CoreTemp.

ds4's generally have a barrier of 485fsb, some a little higher some a little lower.

p.s try different ram slots, the colours DO make a difference, i got 475 with orange slots and 485 with yellow slots.

Ok, Orthos doesn't BSOD anymore! But it now bombs out after a couple of seconds. Coretemp rockets to 58/60C during those few seconds, then instantly reverts to 37/38C.

Advice?

What's the CPUs stepping?

And have you disabled everything that you don't need in the BIOS, including Legacy USB?

Yes. Stepping 6, Revision B2, CPU was stamped with L629B513 which I believe is Week 29?

Currently I'm on 1.58750 VCore, 2.6GHz, RAM at 4:5 (1000MHz, 4-4-4-12), FSB 400 (Pumped to 1600).

I'm stable to boot up (just), but Orthos reports an error instantly. In the few seconds that takes, temps hit 60C and drop back down (coretemp).

If I lower the multi to 8, keep those voltages and bring the RAM to 2:1, I'm still FSB walled at 430MHz...

Scythe Ninja with 1200RPM Silent Scythe fan.

In a V1000 Lian-Li case, it has good cold air from the front and an exhaust 12cm right behind the HSF.

dont think i would be pushing it to 1.6v on air cooling though, maybe time for some water ;)

How does the memory perform? How high have you had it on 4 4 4 12?

increase vcore to 1.5v and increase chipset voltage a little if you can, with my X2 it wouldn't go above 2.55Ghz until i increased chipset voltage :)

No offence, but please read the thread. I've just been running on 1.6V...

so 75C is ok for coretemp during Orthos????

Makes me unhappy to be honest.

Edit, memory is fine at 1GHz 4-4-4-12
