IT Support Technicians/Engineers - Advice needed

My classic one is.

have you restarted the computer?

"Yes I have restarted the motherboard"

Select, Start then select my Computer

"I'm already on my computer, i'm sitting down at it."

My job as the only IT guy ...

- Get in a 8.59.
- Start up my PC.
- Check backups.
- Deal with idiots.
- OCUK looking busy.
- Change password for idiot who claims "this has always been my password" when it clearly hasn't.
- OCUK looking busy.
- Google someone's annoying problem.
- Fix annoying problem using answer from Google.
- OCUK looking busy.
- Leave at 5 on the dot.

This too, see my post quoted above, I wasn't kidding either! I have pulled a few near all nighters getting everything to run so smoothly here, so I feel justified doing my own thing most of the week :cool:

Haha, tell me about it! If IT are doing their jobs properly, you shouldn't even know they're there, as everything just works (or gets fixed before you notice it's broken). It only looks like we're doing some work when the **** really hits the fan! :p
 
Just had a look online and there is pretty much NO first line support jobs in my area, we don't have much in the way of offices down here. Shame as I would look at trying to get in and start working in the industry, but I would actually have to move to somewhere that there is actually these jobs available!
