Italian Grand Prix 2014, Monza - Race 13/19

Button on the parabolica run-off on Thursday:

McLaren racer Button agreed the challenge of the corner would still remain while safety is improved for the drivers.

"I understand the reason behind it, the safety and the asphalt in run-off areas; straight ahead, in braking, it's a great idea," Button said.

"The exit, I haven't had a look at yet but I've heard there's still Astroturf.

"You can't put wheels on Astroturf when you are laterally loaded at that speed anyway, because it will spit you into the inside barriers.

"I'm sure it's no easier than it was before."

And then yesterday:

McLaren driver Jenson Button said he now felt he could take more speed into the corner.

"I'm definitely carrying more speed in there than I did last year because you're not so wary of the gravel now it's non-existent," he said.

"It's obviously more forgiving. You take more speed in, you're more confident on the entry, and if you make a mistake you just run wide.

"It's still a rush driving through there, I still love the corner, it's just a little bit different.

"It's a quicker corner, but whether I like it or not, I don't really know."

Make your mind up Button! Muppet.

The first one he hadn't tried it, so they make perfect sense.

First one, is an initial opinion, the second one is an informed opinion.

McLaren offered him more money. But don't let facts get in the way...oh dear.
It's to do with Nico on a 3 year 40ml contract, they want Lewis to do the same.

Looks like a pay cut to me and has been reported time and time again that they offered him less than he was on. It doesn't matter if they then beat Mercs offer, the damage was done.

If you are on 20m per season (for example), get offered 10m by your current employer and then they increase it to 15 to beat off a rival you are still getting a pay cut.

Jesus you take anything about Lewis you don't like as a personal insult and retort with aggression and derision.

So the fact is two teams have tried to offer him reduced terms. Sorry that makes you cry but that's the truth of it.

McLaren offered Lewis 6ml+ over 3 years then Merc. So I was right.

To put it simple even for you. Merc offered 60ml over 3 years so McLaren offered 66ml over 3 years
which was better then the 75ml over 5 years McLaren first offered.

Jesus H you are not right at all. I said both his teams have been keen to offer him and pay cut. You got bent out of shape when the simple question is.

Did Mclaren off him a pay cut yes or no?

Just answer that simple question. It doesn't matter what they offered him over and above mercedes it was still less than he was on. I have highlighted it to make it easier for you "Hamilton's F1 deal worth £12m but still represents a pay cut"

Mercedes clearly are thinking like Williams used to, they have the best car and the best drivers will come to them. They can use this to get rid of Hamilton because the notion that he might get the same as Rosberg is laughable.

Watching for the first time this weekend:

They have finally put astro turf on the exit of the 3rd chicane to stop them leaving the track by about 4 miles on exit! :)

But the parabolica exit astro turf is far too short, there's about 100m of painted green tarmac beyond the track limit that every driver is using. :(

FIA fail.

Yes, but how much is Lewis Hamilton not being offered to race damn it!?

Forgive me for choosing to ignore the pathetic BS spouted by a stream of self centered idiots more concerned with trying to make themselves look big and clever on an anonoymous forum than collectively discuss the sport that brings us all here in the first place.

Oh do get over yourself. I know you have long thought this your section but we had to sit through two years of you arguing with Mr Men over anything and everything, so do try not to take the high ground now. There was nothing you wouldn't argue about.

As usual when something doesn't suit you it's personal attacks in one form or another.

Unlike the truly great drivers (Alonso, Schumacher), he [Bettel] can't wring the best out of whatever he has - give him something that's not perfectly to his liking and he struggles (Button).

Indeed. And this is crucial.
A truly great driver, after a few races, will adapt to his equipment and be super competitive. I still find it strange that he is getting so comprehensively beaten by his team-mate.

Lets not forget that Vettel was great over many years and won even before joining RBR. Could it be bad form?
