Almost a second clear of the field in FP1, looks ominous, but early days!

Mer was supersoft vs soft ferrari, however they will run away with pole, the interesting fight is ferrari/rb. Ferrari have spent their remaining tokens for the engine so hopefully a good battle.

So the FIA give Max a gentle warning. What a complete and utter joke, Max is a breath of fresh air, we need more like him. Lots of these races can be text book stuff in that the best car wins and so on. Its refreshing to see a driver make a difference. I do enjoy those moments when the commentators shout "Max no one has ever passed there" Brilliant.

Sounds like it's a touch fragile though. Go for the power boost for Monza and if they're fast and the engine fails, then the Tifosi can accept that more readily than a slow Ferrari at Monza, especially given the year they've had so far.

Merc did their fastest times on the soft, not supersoft. They did a supersoft run first, soft run towards the end with the 1:22 time. It's not that they are slower on supersoft, just they obviously had less fuel and engines turned up more for the run on softs vs ss.

Yh misread the timing screen. Either way don't expect anything unexpected usual merc pole.

Williams seem to be showing good pace atm but they do tend to drop back come qualifying.

Yeah, would be a surprise, though Rosberg was a half second down and 4th last year, this isn't his best track. Though that is more about race pace and Hamilton just beats him for race pace with ease it seems. I think if Rosberg doesn't hook up a lap this is one of those tracks he can lose a decent amount of time. With a good lap they should be a fairly easy 1-2.

Not a bad lap time though. Hamilton currently 0.5s faster than the fastest lap across all the sessions last year.

Also looks like the super soft tyre can do 19 laps at the moment. Both Mercs and Perez have done that many. Bottas did 18 laps on a set of them.
