I really hope red bull and ferrari pull their fingers out for 2017. I don't want another season where merc are far and away superior. They could probably get pole on the soft tyres. They've been seriously impressive this year but F1 needs the competition.

Renault the team, sucks because the whole car sucks. It's largely being a very high drag car than being a bum engine because though RBR aren't good here they are what, 2 seconds maybe up on what Renault(the team got). The renault engine though has made huge strides in the past 10 months. Renault had one foot in F1 and one foot out the door so weren't committing resources to the engine. Now they've committed they upped investment in the engine drastically and it's going up more. So that improved spending should have an effect already, further increases will help more.

I do think Renault engine wise will make rather large gains for next year.

Wehrlein beats another Mclaren, less than half a tenth behind Alonso.

TBH missed any lock ups but Brundle said Hamilton said on radio they should do another lap as he locked up in the first chicane I think he said. Are you sure it was Rosberg or did both lock up? Guess they'll look at his tires once he pits and see how bad the lock up is. Frankly they have superior tire life and Rosberg has never had anything like the pace Hamilton has had here... it probably wouldn't be an issue.

Ricciardo again going way way off in the final corner.

I think both must have locked up. I guess they will just appeal to the FIA and get a new set.

Think it's a bit silly if hammy gets to change tyres. You make a mistake you should pay for it and start on the flat spotted tyre.

I'm sure he got to change a set earlier in the season to. It actually turns into an advantage getting to put on a set that have slightly more life in them

The tyre has to have done similar are mileage.

Seriously impressive by haas to get into q3.

Again didn't see either but given the times I suspect they are very minor lock ups. People lock up through a race loads of times, it has very little effect overall. In general it used to take a really significant lock up to cause a lasting effect that would actually cause you to lose multiple laps in tire life or come straight in for a new set. All of a sudden crofty/Brundle act like every little puff of smoke will end a stint instantly. :(

If the lock up was that bad I just don't think they'd have bothered finishing the laps both because the times would be bad due to losing so much in one corner and knowing starting on them was such a bad idea they wouldn't risk it.

Hamilton still pulls out a almost 3/10th gap. People were complaining that Sky were handing this pole to Hamilton when talking yesterday, but where teams have favourite tracks or best tracks, this is a Hamilton track and not at all a Rosberg one.

Even if Rosberg nabs pole, Hamilton's race pace here has eating Rosberg alive each time, his pace catching Rosberg in 2014 after a bad start was honestly ridiculous, half a second faster a lap and Rosberg with his fairly usual huge mistakes under pressure. His race pace most places is significantly faster, the difference is either tracks you can overtake, tracks you can't or tracks Rosberg chooses to hit Hamilton or cut corners to try to keep his lead.

I'd be surprised by a Rosberg pole, but honestly I'd put Hamilton to win over Rosberg even if Hamilton was 5th.

I would LOVE to see them remove the first chicane, that would be an incredible entry speed to the 2nd one and really task the cars and drivers over a race distance :)
