Yep looks like a backup for any possibility of Alonso going. I hope JB drives in WEC or similar.

I think he would make a superb WEC driver. His style is perfect for endurance racing.

Hamilton's only problem might be that slightly flat spotted tyre (maybe nothing, but we really don't know) and the fact that it will be a long stint on it too. I would still put my money on Hamilton though.

I love how they are all making it sound like its a good deal for Button. This is definitely not his first choice, it's a back up plan for McLaren. Nothing more nothing less. If he had the choice he'd want to drive for McLaren next year. I doubt the 5 million means a huge amount to him as he's probably alright for a few quid. Plus he'll probably still have to do loads of the appearance/corporate guff McLaren make their drivers do. (One of the reasons Lewis wanted to leave them. Along with the poop car obviously)

I would agree. Rosberg should have done much better than he has so far. Imagine Vettel or Alonso in Rosberg's position after the first four rounds. Lewis wouldn't have had a sniff of coming back. In the races Lewis won these drivers would have minimised the loss the points. Not so Nico, who has been finishing 4th, 3rd, 5th, 7th, in races that Lewis has won. That's just no good enough, he's just not good enough.

He's a probably top of the D2 drivers ahead of the likes of Hulk, Bottas etc...

Well Eddie claims that the deal will be announced on Tuesday, and if it is Bernie won't be gone as soon as Singapore. Eddie isn't usually wrong on things like this, he seems to have excellent contacts.

Quite. Bernie has gone a bit mental over the recent years, but he has done much MUCH more for F1 than damage it. He is a car bloke, always has been, always will be but times have moved on and he knows that. Time for a change but he will be viewed as a powerhouse of much good for motorsport in years to come.
