More importantly how is Mazepin only on 5 penalty points on his license??!?

It does seem that the FIA don’t particularly punish his actions if it only concerns MICK Schumacher. Seems stupid that he has pulled the most dangerous stunts this year and is fairly low on the license points standing.

I wonder if LH should take a tactical engine penalty (if MV does of course). If he will start in front of MV anyway, it would potentially reduce the penalty. I know it is a chance to score a bigger point haul if he is P1 and MV is P9+, but if LH will take any engine anyway at some point it could make sense.

Ohh love those salty tears

He's just trolling for some reason. Same for the post before.

Don't see why you would take it now. May as well wait and see.

I don't care what happened or who was to blame between those two personality vacuums, they gave us a great podium. Happy to see DR & McLareb on the top step and beat his team mate fair and square after a middling start to the season. Hope they get their McLarens on the podium more.

The FIA document for the incident says that Verstappen made a late lunge and was never fully alongside Hamilton so he didn't have “the right to racing room” but where does that leave the lap 1 turn 4 incident? Hamilton didn't make a late lunge and was fully alongside so why didn't he have the right to racing room?

He likely could have argued it, but he decided to pull out and live to race on :D

That one I felt Verstappen should have given Hamilton the position back (though it meant letting Norris past too). I think any lap other than lap 1 would have resulted in such a situation. That said, the stewards made a series of weird decisions in the F2 races for incidents at Variante della Roggia, ignoring what should have been nailed on penalties.

I still say the turn one incident should have been viewed a racing incident though. Both were entitled to space, both could have bailed out. Neither did, so they came together collided. That's still my view, though I'd like to see the CCTV footage.

Max deserves the penalty, he has never been the one to yield in wheel to wheel racing and now a couple of times Lewis hasn't been the one to yield like he normally does to avoid an accident, both times have resulted in a crash. Max has built up this reputation and wants to scare other drivers out of making a move. It's such a shame as he is clearly a very talented, just so arrogant.

Is he talented though? He's fast when he's in a fast car, but we've seen him be shocking in the wet, and worse wheel-to-wheel. Is it "talent" to simply crash into people left, right and centre? Where is Verstappen's race-craft, tactical thinking, wheel-to-wheel skill? He might as well have "MAX SMASH!!!" written down the side of his car.

I think the stewards are bang on - he was NEVER alongside, he never had his front tyres alongside hamilton at any point, and therefore has not "earned the right" to the space.

On balance I think that's spot on. Would have been fine with 50/50 - move on, but you can't argue with that description and the resulting penalty

I'm no Verstappen fan but I think that's a bit harsh. He's a hard racer, undoubtedly, but it's not like he hits other cars on a regular basis.

And you've got to remember he's still young. At his age Hamilton was involved in incidents even more often than Verstappen is currently.

He's a rich man's Maldonado in a toxic team where no one wants that second seat.

His whole career has been handed to him on a silver spoon. He will never be up there with Schumacher, Alonso and Hamilton.

Well there you have in a nutshell the difference between "Max! Smash!" ( I like that, going to use it) and Lewis "7 world titles thank you" Hamilton.
