It's On! Floyd Mayweather - Conor McGregor **No discussions of illegal streams**

I don't know if this sort of thing still goes on in boxing or only in the movies, but for all we know, Conor might have been told to take a fall, whether he has a chance of winning or not.
It's huge money that he couldn't turn down so he'd probably do anything for such a purse. Mayweather on the other hand can afford to turn it down, he's already got $400 million. The arrangement might be on Mayweather's terms where he ends up looking good, the victor once again, and both of them end up much wealthier.

Of course, this is most likely not the case, but who really knows.

Legit question: Would a loss even count on Mayweathers record? Surely this isn't a sanctioned / official bout for the books?

Why wouldn't it be sanctioned? It's a straight boxing match at an agreed weight class isn't it?
Ok sanctioned was the wrong term.. Conor's not in the regular roster of fighters.

I see this as more of an exhibition.

Sorry wasn't meaning a fight against Mayweather more the publicity and money that vast majority of professional boxers won't see, regardless of the fact they are all better boxers than Mcgreggor. I am aware of the reason for the fight, money, but it just sit well for me.

This is going to be an awesome event.

I know people would complain if they charged for a press conference, and now people are complaining that its free?
I am excited about the media coverage of this and the fight, I am a fan of all things combat.

Well it's not a title match, it has no bearing on the current world titles nor boxers looking to attain them. It is a licensed fight though.

At best it is a publicity driven exhibition match promoting the two biggest names in two sports.

If however Connor does well, it may open up the opportunity for him to enter boxing with a view to challenging for the title in the future. Financially and physically, this has to be an attractive option to him.

"While Showtime will broadcast the fight live on pay-per-view in the United States, there is likely to be a bidding war between Sky Sports and BT Sport in the UK. Whichever TV station gets the rights, Sky Go or the BT Sports app will be the places to go to watch the fight on the go."

I've got access to BT Sports on my phone courtesy of EE. If they get the rights, does anyone know if I'll be able to watch the fight for free, or would BT still expect a ticket purchase for it?

Other details about the fight:

Saturday, August 26, although the fight will likely start in the early hours of Sunday morning UK time.

T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The venue has a capacity of 20,000 for ring based events.

The mega-fight could generate upwards of £500 million. Fight is expected to break all television box office records.

Ticket details have not yet been released but expect official prices to be between $1,500 and $7,500, which was the fee fight fans paid at face value for the Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight in 2015.

According to TMZ, the fighters will use 10 ounce gloves in a 12 round boxing fight.

They will fight at the light-middleweight limit of 154lb - a weight at which Mayweather beat Oscar De La Hoya in 2007.

Anthony Joshua has hinted he wants to be on the undercard. That seems unlikely as Joshua has been an exception to his IBF title.
