It's snowing

my watch recorded 967mb barometric pressure as the eye passed over us last night. That's crazy low numbers - equivalent to a cat2 hurricane (965-979mb)

I used to love when it snowed and had my Evo out in winter. Chucked the full snow tyres on too. Brilliant fun in a wide open industrial estate. That car with full winters on would pass gritters that were stuck.

I hate this in between snow phase.
Everything is getting cancelled or not possible due to the conditions - my sons School is closed today, his Friday, Saturday and Sunday football has been cancelled, we can't go MTB'ing : Bike Park Wakes is closed and the conditions are horrible for riding, yet there isn't sufficient snow to enjoy it. No Snowman or snowball battles.

Stuck inside gaming, sim racing and watching Netflix, which has it's plus sides..... but for 3 days solid :(

Still plenty of snowing on the ground this morning.

Tried to go out this morning but couldn't get out onto the main road.

Multiple cars abandoned on the street and just half hour ago, I helped a chap get on to his drive way.

It's melting but very slowly. If it freezes tonight, our road will be a nightmare.

Edit: the kids snowman this morning

"Worst snow in decades" for the Midlands - though doesn't really have the same impact when it is a brief cold snap, and mostly piling in on the front of mild air, and not week(s) long deep freeze.
Yeah the deep freezes of the past are long gone its all over by the next day if theres anything at all which there invariably isn't.

Really? What about the Beast from the East?
Diddly squat down here. Was just cold, very cold.

It was really coming down as I went to bed around 11pm so I was thinking of nicking Mrs Bob's 4x4 for this morning, Only to wake up to a wet, snowless view and a balmy 2 degrees.

Drove to work, got stuck on the final speed hump at the top of a 1 mile hill:D
Did a u turn and took a risky route off the estate, which turned out to be risk free.
Next challenge was stuck cars on a frozen road, at the highest point in the west mids, who'd have thought it.
Took a detour, someone else was stuck but it was of their own doing, if you're going up a slope keep your momentum ffs.

Cue - numpty brains going up the other side of the road, at speed, overtaking traffic - only to get stuck feet from where he wanted to turn off.:D
After that it was easy as the inclines were in my favour, yet plenty of numpties overtaking at mad speeds.

Plenty of vehicles abandoned on main roads and at dodgy angles, now it's time to hibernate for 2 days while it freezes.

Some parts of the Midland are definitely piling up more snow than the Beast from the East - but won't be getting a deep freeze like it.

"Beast from the East" was much worse (or better :p) where we are; had a good 8-10cm then and it lasted for a couple of days.

Last night we had about 4 hrs of snow, settled about 2-3cm, and most of it has turned to a slushy mess already.

I think tonight is going to be nasty on the roads though; lots of mushy wet slush and it's going to be -3, so it will be like an ice rink :s
