Yeah wind picking up like crazy here (down in the South West) and bursts of heavy rain no snow and not expecting it... while relatives somewhere around Nottingham area are seeing over 10cm of snow now :S and still falling heavily.

I've just driven from Bourne to Stamford. Stamford is a bit of a nightmare! Cars and lorries stuck all over. Then there's a few abandoned cars on the slip road coming off the A1!

Me and my trusty old Astra did alright though! Thank god I put a set of 4 new tyres on recently.

I managed to spin my car on the way back from the cinema earlier. That was fun. Thankfully the nearest vehicle to me had plenty of time to stop, and I came to a halt just short of the barrier. Under other circumstances it could have been bad news.

^ I refer you to my post last night -

everyone driving at a sensible 10-20mph to avoid any problems and I didn't see one idiot trying to rush past the queues, I was amazed!

However this morning all the idiots, inexperienced and just plain lazy of Stoke are out in force with snow covered cars with a 2in peep hole so they can see out, wheel spinning up hills in 1st gear at redline, doing 60mph on untreated back roads etc. After the standard of sensible driving last night I was hoping that this morning would be the same, shame!

PS Still haven't seen any gritters yet but they must be out there by now somewhere.
