It's too hot :(

23.3'C here today, still abit hot for my liking, but certainly an improvement to yesterday.

Just hope it's cool enough to actually get a decent night's sleep tonight :)

I just slept on top of my bed in my boxers, stuck on classic fm on a very low volume and set it to turn off after 15 minutes. Next I remember is waking up at about 4, was cool enough to get under the covers, woke up again at 8 like normal.

I can't believe the BBC has even given an article to this  I much prefer this than when the heating broke in my uni house years ago during one of the snowy periods. Shivering to sleep is much less fun than sweating to sleep.

Forget the geek thing, this is Britain. We're not so used to the extremes.

Our weather has hardly been extreme. It's been warm/hot. We've been getting warm summers and cold winters for decades/centuries - it's not unexpected.

And it's for a few days, maybe a week if we're lucky. I still cannot fathom why it's such a big problem.

I don't enjoy sitting at my desk sweating :(

I like sleep.

I hear you there. If I don't get my 5-6hrs I'm a miserable git!

Oh wait, you're saying you're not able to sleep? Sorry :(

Well look at it this way, the more time you spend in hot weather the more likely you are to get used to it. :)

How about this as a trick, fill a hot water bottle with ice cold water (or put ice in it too) and it'll have the same effect (in reverse) as a hot water bottle in the winter.

Personally having the window open is more than enough for me - but I've got Mediterranean blood and enjoy the heat. :)

Get a fan? Open the window, stop being a bitch? :p

Admittedly when I'm at the gym and as soon as I eat, I'm drenched. However, that doesn't bother me and it happens in the winter too.

People think I'm mad for wearing an undershirt/t-shirt/vest under my shirts - I find it comfortable! :o

I've done both! That's the thing, i don't mind sweating like mad in the gym, nor did i mind it last 2 weeks in 40+ degree sun in france. But when i'm trying to work at my desk i don't enjoy it whether it's expected or not.

I have a fan it dries my eyes out and i end up with tearing eyes and strain from the dry air and allergies. So i have to keep it off my face but that still doesn't stop dripping out lol. As for the windows no effect the last three nights as there hasn't been any cool air to pass in this flat, it's surrounded by high walls and a patch of grass

Well I'm sorry to hear you're suffering - just be thankful we don't have very hot summers or prolonged summers. Try and enjoy it, it'll make it less stressful. :) Drink more water, and if it really is that bad, get a portable a/c unit. :)

I'm saving up for one :D

You should try doing a 9 mile run in this heat. Even my sweat was sweating..

Or a 25 mile ramble up the South Downs with a 30 kilo rucksack on your back just for the lulz. :p
