It's too hot :(

The only benefit of the heat in those countries is that it is very dry.

I'd rather be in the middle east, at those temps but no humidity, than Asia where it could be 'only' mid 20s but stupidly humid.

*I mean in terms of the weather only. Of course I'd much prefer to be in Asia than the middle east :)

One summer in Turkey I spent several days wearing a thawb and keffiyeh [it was a Saudi friend's wedding]. It was incredibly comfortable. I can totally see why Arabs do it.

True, but I totally CANNOT understand how the women have to wear those full BLACK overalls (don't know the name). Surely in a country like that, it didn't take long historically to figure out that black wasn't the best colour to choose!

Apparently it works quite well:

Although black absorbs more heat, studies have revealed that black provides better convection... when outside in the summer sun. This means that a woman wearing a black abaya will feel as cool as a man wearing a white thobe

That article gives many other reasons why they are black.

Same here it belted it down this morning a work site was flooded yesterday due to the thunderstorms the other day and I'm expecting the same today so much clearing up do. But the heats gone. And the humidity! It was like a suana yesterday and today its breezy!! Yes finally some air movement thats not caused by my fans! Heaven.

14C at the moment. A couple of nights ago it was 22C. This is amazing.
At about 9pm I took the dog out for a wal... ok, crawl (she's 17) and nearly turned back to get my coat. But I thought, no... I'll enjoy being on the cool side of totally comfortable while it lasts!

We've dodged the rain so far though, which is a disappointment to my watering can arm. It's either drought or flood these days. Need bigger butts and I cannot lie.

Yep same here, been going to Turkey quite a bit over the past few yrs and I wear the thawb when there.
Even when I was Dubai/Abu Dhabi I’d wear that most of the time. Spent a yr or so out in the ME and it’s all I wore. Don’t think I ever put my jeans on.

Barely 7C tonight here (Somerset) I'm actually considering putting a heater on. Looks like it won't be long before temperatures rise again though - looks like from the 24th onwards the trajectory is mostly upwards into July.

I've been slowly watching the temperature drop on our thermostat these last few days and wondering if one morning I'd wake up to the radiators being on. Thankfully it looks as though things will warm up a touch before that could happen, however it does look like it's going to take until next Tues before we get any kind of 'normal' summer temperatures here.

Really have a gut feeling this year will be another "so that was summer, huh?" kinda season. What I would give to be able to freely use my passport right about now.

I was going to my balcony just now for a 4:20 break and noticed a bumble bee sitting there almost motionless either resting or dying but I suspect the later.

I supported it with some water and a freshly opened flower from my courgette plant, watched it slowly coming back to life over about 40 minutes before it crawled towards the window, gave me a salute and took off.
might have just wanted to sting me for wetting it though

Dear oh dear its gone from near 30c to 15c in a week whats going on with the weather? From putting on aircon to pulling on a sweater! I almost put the heating on last night! Just in time for the beans and other tender veg on the patch to get blasted by the winds happens every year.

Heating has been coming on last few days!
