It's too hot :(

27c by 10am! Feels like I'm back in S.E Asia. :) A couple of weeks of this and I'll be happy. 30c yesterday for a short time and the first time I'd seen that happen in years.

Thankfully it's nice and cool here tonight,
it would be cooler if i could open my windows but i'm looking after my mums very expensive Cat at my house while she's away and if he jumped out of an open window i'd in a whole heep of poo lol

Shut the cat in a cupboard overnight- problem solved.

Shut the cat in a cupboard overnight- problem solved.

Until you get a whiff of the cupboard interior when you retrieve the fleabag.
We’re looking after my son’s young Bengal cat while junior is slurping tequila in Almeria, and my wife has the bedroom door shut, as she’s worried that the cat will come in, walk out of the open sliding door/window of our second floor bedroom to the balcony and jump up and over the guard rail.

This is frankly ridiculous.

Sitting here, naked from the waist up, in a fully breathable mesh-backed char, and still the sweat is pouring off me.

How anyone can find this pleasurable I have no idea. Went out earlier to check on some plants and couldn't stand more than 20 minutes. They'll have to fend for themselves :p

29c here, rather sit inside , have most blinds down so rooms are quite cool still. Have a BBQ later, can't even be bothered to do that! I like warm weather but not humid sweaty like this, 21c is the sweet spot for me:)

There is a fairly simple, albeit slightly expensive solution to this, which is to get a built-in a/c system. I would have caved into buying one many years ago had I still lived in the UK. We keep our a/c set to 23 C every day (despite it being 32 C outside) and it's lovely. Well worth it, IMO.

Let me be cool,
Avoid sweat that I hate,
Wafting my arms to
Evaporate,
Unwanted moisture,
Pooled in my pits,
Or, even worse,
On dangly bits!

Yes, before long
I'll be muddy & cold,
Huddled inside,
Arthritic'ly old,
But what matters now,
Simply survival,
Dreading a sweltering
Heatwave arrival!

At least my tomatoes appreciate it.

Do cats routinely leap to their doom from high places?

My wife tried to make me shut the bedroom windows last night, for exactly that reason. I put the cat out and opened the windows again, which solved that problem to e veryone 's satisfaction.

they survive
the higher the fall the less likely it is that the cat will recieve an injury.

if they reach terminal velocity it's all good, they just need enough time to be able to land on their feet
Cats reach terminal velocity at 60 mph - or about five stories of free fall - whereas humans don't reach that same speed until 120 mph. Also, cats can sense when they're accelerating.
that cat in the video jumped from the 5th floor, so likely hit terminal velocity before it landed, it just meows and walks off :D
It didn't even panic on the jump, I guess the room is very hot so it's got an incentive to exit the window. but it carefully picks a landing spot and then bounces off the buildings wall.
no panic just maths

I once stayed at with friends in Spain, in august and one of them kept coming into my room at night to shut the window in case her cats jumped out. 2nd floor up. No AC. Mental.

I didn't used to mind the heat in my younger years, now can't get with it, seems to always want to get hotter than before each year now like it's competing with itself, although thankfully at least has got up a breeze this afternoon here. Geezer next door says he'd love it like this everyday, I can't get my head why anyone would want this, sticky clammy body 24/7 with lack of sleep, only got a couple of hours last night, also having windows open all day, all I ever hear is the neighbours irritating bird calling for something 10,000 times a day loud as hell, shouldn't be allowed to lock a bird in a cage anyway and certainly not one that makes this sound, never shuts up during summer months so no longer can sit in the garden either.

Think I'm of viking descend as I prefer it cold, at least you can warm up easy. I'm actually looking forward to summer being over lol, most people can't fathom that out and all weather forecasters and papers talk about the summer like its what everyone is looking forward to and talk like its great when there's a heatwave and everyone's happy to swelter in heat.

I'm happy 16-21c

also having windows open all day, all I ever hear is the neighbours
The woman next to me doesn't half moan on at her partner. I don't think they realise the whole street can hear them...

such an annoying voice too really grates, Geordie women who are common sound so bloody awful
