It's too hot :(

Is foil on windows effective? Considering it for the bedroom, I have massive windows and it must be 40C+ in there by 9-10 in the morning, it's killing me

No. Look up 'Low E solar insulation tinting film'.

At least new builds also come with this as standard, but the advertised 'keeps your house cool in summer' part is a joke, it just prevents greenhouse temps.

That's cool (as in neat :p) what is that from?

It's one of my Home Assistant dashboards. Displays temperatures from some of my smart sensors and has some custom graphing to reflect the red on high temps, and blue with low temps - although not seeing much of that these days

I may have asked this before, not sure. What app is this?

It's tado.
Each radiator has a robot trv Controller.

So you can see my set temps and actuals for each room. If the twmo dips below the set temp the value opens and fires the boiler.

So only the rooms that are cold get heated

So it dropped to 25.5 by morning from a 27.7 max. But sun is out slept OK but its on my limit!
Worth it though.

My room hit its low point of 29.1 at just after 5.30am. Windows were open during night.

Right now its back up to 30.0 flat, surprised it only went up by 0.9C. But still hot enough to be horrible.

8000 BTU "Quiet" Portable AC doing the job for my office nicely but not quietly, all portables are loud to some extent. Not even needing to run it that much, half an hour or so, takes all the hot air out via sealed window kit then open window and put fan on.

Can still buy the one I got for £350 in April but now it's £430, not much help now but best to buy pre season, seen the one I got as low as £320 in March.

That was your low? Do you have a garden to escape to? I'm thankful of that. Was in a one bed flat early 2020. I'd be grumpy. If I was in that now

Wunderground app thinks it's going to be baking hot and dry, Met Office thinks we're now going to get soaked and even have thunderstorms this afternoon from ~1200 in Hampshire!

Accuweather is predicting this wont be lasting for weeks, hopefully its right.

Temps from 17th july (2 days ago), until 25th july in celsius. today in bold. If it is right recovery starts in 4 days and be more pleasant on 24th 5 days time.

30 30 27 29 28 28 25 22 22

no I dont, at least not a shaded garden. My escape is bathroom which has no direct sunlight, and I found a way to get a temporary a/c effect in there with shower.

Dont waste money on the stupid little white cube things that claim to be air conditioning, maybe unless you can import from China like I did and they never arrived so got refunded, then still turned up quite a while later.

And since I have the stupid useless cubes I don't want to pay for a proper unit.

That's really cool. Can imagine it cost a few quid though!

Dunno why there is an extreme heat warning for this area (are these things in vogue now?) temperatures aren't looking exceptionally higher to what we've had in the past.

Just can’t beat air con in this weather. Final two rooms being done tomorrow - most importantly, the gaming room :D

Same, we seem to have had our hottest days?

Was at work at 4am, that was warm even then. After that, they day just got more and more brutal heat wise.
I love the summer, but this is a bit too much.
