It's too hot :(

Some of you are too young to remember, but when I was a kid, this is what June and July were like, every year. This, to me, is normal British summer on the south coast :)

Fortunately things have improved since, but we still have the odd bad period like this week.

I seem to remember 1996 being the last really oppressive summer. I vaguely remember the tarmac on the M42 melting whilst being stuck in traffic coming home from Droitwich. Back before air con came as standard on most cars.

I remember the summer of 2004, temps were hitting 40c on some days at night it was very uncomfortable and the heatwave lasted for weeks and weeks. Once you have been through that this 'heatwave' is nothing to write home about.

Yesterday and today are unbearable. It's not just the heat, it's the damn humidity, need a decent thunderstorm, it more OT less missed us last night. We had about 30seconds, then it sided off.

How the hell can it be awesome weather, hot, humid and overcast, it's not even sunny.
25c, clear skies, low humidity and a breeze is awesome weather.

That's what I remember - but then as a youngster I was in France or in Cyprus or the Middle East as a kid so I rather enjoy this weather. However when I visited family in the UK I always remember the summers being hot.

It's great - it's nice to have 4 seasons. Was so nice to have lunch outside today. Unfortunately the A/C at work is on too low and it's absolutely freezing :(

From someone at work who's in London today:

Working from home today, so staying in the north side of the house which hasn't had any sun since first thing this morning and keeping the doors to the back (south) side of the house closed which keeps it reasonable in here (with the help of a USB fan)

It's getting greyer now though ...

Started quite cool until about 10:30 when it started to warm up at a rapid rate but then a bank of cloud moved in and its stayed warm and a bit humid but not got really hot.
