Rented flat quite cool. Have a small east facing terrace
What's mylar do exactly?Stuck mylar up today at the front door because the hallway was boiling. It works amazing well, much cooler now.
What's mylar do exactly?
My brief google-fu implies that it's a reflective material like tinfoil to reflect some of the sun's light and keep the house coolWhat's mylar do exactly?
Pretty much, its metalized thin plastic film, I think mylar is just a brand name.My brief google-fu implies that it's a reflective material like tinfoil to reflect some of the sun's light and keep the house cool
Ah nice. I've been looking in to those solar reflective blinds you can get. My curtains just absorb the sun and then radiate it. The curtains are about 6 inches away from me, so it's like being sat next to a huge radiatorPretty much, its metalized thin plastic film, I think mylar is just a brand name.
Yeah we had it 30 today, only said 26 two days ago so miles off again, but yeah outside in it was nothing like that July heatwave, wouldn't say pleasant but at least you could sit in the shade and not feel like you were melting away. that last heatwave in July was like the apocalypse in East Yorks, so humid.31c apparently, theres a stiff breeze blowing and humidity is low so feels quite bearable atm and dare I say it, pleasant
It's high frequency radio wave and heat reflective so confuses incoming missile guidance systems and reflects radiant heat at some other poor sod. What's mylar do exactly?
Was it easy to put up and take down, did you just do your hallway or all around the house?Pretty much, its metalized thin plastic film, I think mylar is just a brand name.
I only did the front door because it's patterned so it isn't like a giant mirror outside. Not sure if I can risk it on the windows, don't know how dangerous it would be. It was more of an experiment today, ideally I'd have something that folds away. You can buy precut window films online though! Looks like the tinted windows you see on office buildings, of course you can get different versions of transparency. Was it easy to put up and take down, did you just do your hallway or all around the house?
Was just about to post similar. My place continues to heat up after the sun has set as the heat it captures is radiated out.30.1 room temp at the moment. West facing.
Only dropped to 28.3 during night.
I need to test this theory with the mylar sails on my boat and some of the bigger boats that hang around Portsmouth Harbour ...It's high frequency radio wave and heat reflective so confuses incoming missile guidance systems and reflects radiant heat at some other poor sod.
