It's too hot :(

The problem with this heatwave isnt the level of heat but the length of time its here. We are going to need a REALLY wet autumn to replenish the amount of water we have lost so I honestly cannot wait for Monday and the predicted storms!
The problem with storms and the bone dry ground is that you get flash floods because the ground can’t absorb the rain.

We need days of lighter rain showers to Soften the ground before the storms arrive.

25C already. I've turned the lights off at work, opened all the doors and turned the fans on. No air con in this section! Will probably have to close the doors at about 1pm when it starts to get properly warm.

Wunderground stations already in the 24-30C range between Southampton and Portsmouth, at least equal to the first red warning day a few weeks back.

struggling comms room AC

This is not a joke. The main server room AC went down at work and we're still without a records system. "Switch off the TV", eh? Tell that to the patients whose records we can't see, provide adequate medication for or make appointments for.

When it goes back up the backlog is going to be painful.

I didn’t mind summers at my old job as the equipment I used to test iThings had to be kept at a steady 20°c for repeatability of measurements.

Getting there on public transport was bad enough during normal summers, no way I’d use the Tube at the moment.

Fortunately I use the Overground to commute, which is air conditioned. Also Southern have now ditched their ****ty old trains with no air-con and with those seats that all faced each other for extra awkwardness or for people to put their feet on when the trains were less busy.

Their new trains have air con, more intelligent seating and lots of power points for customer use. Much better.

The one good thing in the last couple of years in my old job was that all the trains between Paddington and Hayes were air conditioned after GWR started deploying their new electric trains.

TfL trains were even more swanky than the old Heathrow Connect ones.

Finally get a proper UK summer and everyone's complaining about it. So very British!
Yeah, I'm loving this. I get it, I certainly wouldn't be if I didn't have air-con, but... I do... so

I remember the last two years summers were so disappointing. The world looks a much nicer place with a blue sky and the sun shinning. Rides are memorable and more enjoyable.

Early walk , collect some sea glass ,that sun is hot but a nice sea breeze

Because it's not nice, it's bloody awful.

Drought, fires, loss of wildlife, loss of flora, restless children, tetchy adults, abhorrent government, struggling comms room AC and sweaty balls.
Yeah nice is 22c not 32c+ in my world

This is true most people are much more techy in constant heat, probably the lack of sleep, small things annoy you without the decent shut eye.

Off mountain biking in it in a few hours. Got my 4 litres of water. got my Factor 15 on. Love this weather giving me a base tan for Rhodes in a few weeks where it never drops below 25 Celsius for the whole three Weeks we are there

Big difference is that your accommodation will have AC I assume. No ac in homes in UK means no escape from the heat. It's easy being in the States, for example, when you move from ac in car to ac in shops to ac in house.

Nothing nice about this weather imo either, ignoring any wider concerns about fires and drought etc. Far too hot to do anything during the day, house just becomes really uncomfortable, although standing outside in the sun is even worse.

Lying in the shade under a tree might be pleasant, but even that gets uncomfortable in the afternoon, and enforced rest due to it being too hot to do anything isn't 'nice' in my mind.

Also of course lying in the shade under a tree all day isn't an option for most people who have to be working or looking after kids or whatever.

<25 might be a nice summer temperature imo, 26-30 is too hot, 30+ is much too hot.
