It's too hot :(

Made the mistake of sleeping in the bedroom last night. Whilst i have still been turning my nose up at Sainsbury's so called fan sales, i still did keep my airbed pumped up after last month for downstairs sleeping. I've got some icepacks in bowls on the bed to cool the area, not really sure if it makes any difference, but these be desperate times.

Sat on the decking outside my son's room so I can leave his door open and let the cool air circulate through.

So nice actually feeling a breeze for the first time all day.

I suddenly got blinded on my left side as a neighbours security camera (on the front corner of his house) panned around with full spot light on. You can tell he has it on manual as I am well out of distance for auto track and it then starting cycling the light to try and turn off but kept going past the right one :p.

Sky have added a chart where you can pick a region to see rainfall, compares it to average, East Midlands is now in an official drought.

I mentioned in this thread in previous years I had observed that rain often was only 30-40 miles away from Leicester but didnt go east enough. I would see the clouds to the west.

Well here is the page. Scrolling down shows the rainfall graph.

This year Derbyshire has over 400mm of rain.
Leicestershire just 249mm, considerable difference considering the distance between the two areas.

The further west, the more rain.

Average is 952mm vs 688mm.

Look at this satellite image as well wow. Difference from east to west.

This is way too hot and is going on for too long, I'm a curmudgeon I know . Sleep is not easy. I also had a minor surgical procedure done yesterday which wasn't quite as minor as I was expecting, so that's annoying me too :(

Too far out to be certain but this may not be the last heat wave of the year - possibly another couple of reloads, though lower intensity each time, before we are done.

We are planning to go back to Gloucester next year or Spring 2024 as too hot to walk. Plenty of benches about but always in the full sun when walked past.

perhaps heats the hot water too.

r4today was just saying that many solar pv/panels reduce output when they get too hot ... had never heard that before.

Norway have reduced water reserves in reservoirs due to heat (climate change) so to preserve strategic resource may reduce upcoming hydro electric exports (2-3% of uk imports)

Probably, Europe has a almost permanent high blocker in western Europe, it only has to shift westwards and the UK gets a heatwave with the east getting it more often and for longer.

I checked all of France temps, and the south isnt affected by the blocker much, and actually is cooler than northern France and the UK.
