It's too hot :(

This is not right. Not right at all!

It's 11pm, I'm sitting here in boxing shorts and t-shirt, doing nothing, and sweating profusely. I hope you enjoyed that image :)

What's the problem? I grew up in a post war council house. It had critall windows. In the winter your finger would freeze to the frame if you touched it. Net curtains were like solid sheets of ice.

The summer of 76 was like manna from heaven.

Though we were invaded by giant ladybirds that would bite you. And boy did it hurt.

I love this weather. Everything is better.

Also, the rating attractiveness out of 10 scale has special summer rules...

Everyone gets +2 points... unless they are usually 4 or below... in which case they get -3.

the summer of 76 it was so hot my dads firm opened up the factory where he worked at 6am, so they could get some work done before everybody wilted the heatwave went on for ages by British standards.

30c in my living room bedroom not far behind at 28c no sleep tonight i reckon

Loving this heat, it helps that at work we have AC, AC in the car and then come home in the evening open the window and whack the fan on and it's just about comfortable whilst staying warm :)

It's definitely tough. Still 23 outside but it's close to 28 inside upstairs. No movement of air whatsoever. Windows wide open. *Gasp*

It feels even hotter than yesterday, and with hayfever as well it's a double whammy of crap as it's too warm, and if I open the windows too long it flares up my hayfever (and doesn't seem to really touch the temps anyway!).

Yep 28 here in the home office as well. Cool breeze just starting, well slightly. Peaked at 31 (inside) today and actually as the office is NE facing, it's shielded from the sun by midday. Might have to sort out some cooling. That's the problem with working from home full time.

That and the opposite problem for the winter where you have to heat the home more than usual as well.

I'd much rather be too cold than too warm though, much easier to heat yourself up than cool yourself down, where the only thing you can really do is open the windows and hope it's cool enough outside, or have some kind of air con.

spent the day on a furnace line that doesn't stop, wearing a kevlar jumper, 2 guys i was working with went home sick, no mini breaks, hardly any time to get some water, nobody about to cover me, no staff rotation, nothing, just worked in 40C+ heat covered head to toe in ppe

meanwhile the manager rushed out to buy air con for the office as he was too hot at high 20s...

got home and had a cold shower as cold as it could get and didn't even feel it

Luckily where I work I'm able to sneak off to one of our server rooms to cool off. Problem being soon as I leave said server room it feels even hotter and end up finding another excuse to go hide again!

So I have a portable aircon unit but I need a vent flex and then some way of feeding it out the window without letting my cats jump out through said window.

Any ideas?

Bug nets!

Basically a fine mesh you can velcro or stick to the window and just cut out a hole where the pipe goes. Added bonus of actually stopping bugs getting in too!

Even at 6am is 24c in the house. Last night was the first night where I thought it was too hot, tomorrow I can see being uncomfortable as well for cast 28c and a storm so it's going to be a sweat fest.
