iTunes 7

I would install it, but not untill someone rips quick time out of it and makes a stand alone installer. I already have quicktime alternative installed. I love iTunes, it's library is great imo.

Does anyone know where to download the iPod software updates from? I've just looked on the Apple UK site and I can't find a link. Having had a look at a thread in the Sound City forum it seems the 5G iPods get their updates through iTunes. But what about previous generation iPods? Are they no longer having software updates made for them?

*Edit* - Think I have answered my own question. I went to the Support area of Apple UK and found http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipod/information and then followed this link which tells me that iTunes now handles the downloading of iPod updates. I presume it will handle older generation iPods. Not that that matters. The 80Gb iPod is 20g lighter than my 40Gb 4G iPod! And the price is pretty good too, not forgetting the 15% Educational discount I can get.

I was also in the market for a Macbook but the Core 2 Duo's don't seem to have made it into the Macbook so I will leave that for a while.

I just need to decide if I need the 80Gb or if the 30Gb is enough for me.

Doesn't seem to do anything new that WMP11 hasn't already been doing for a while /shrug

Love the iPod hardware - the software sucks tho....

Can someone please confirm as to weather its possible to disable/rename ipodservice.exe so I can run the app without that bugger firing up in the background. I've no interest in the player so I really don't want that exe running in the background.

No you cant

Itunes will reinstall itself each time you disable ipodservice (or rename the exe to stop it running)

This is why I've gone back to version 6

Is anyone else only being able to get album art for a handful of their albums. I swear it must have only found album art for 10% of my music at best!

WTF?! It keeps happening! My tracks keep scratching and skipping and sometimes they go fuzzy and messed up (all of them) so I have to restart iTunes? Also......

I found this last night, restart worked though.

Best thing about itunes 7 though is that it works with Windows 64bit again! Been wanting an ipod but have been holding off since it wouldn't have worked with 6.0.5 on my pc!

Sod that then i'll stick to 6. Ta for the info man.

Doesn't find the album art for me. At least if it isn’t found it would be nice to know with a message that way I would know it was doing something.

Ok iTunes doesn't scratch/skip anymore, I believe it was just resizing/processing all my album art (600x600 from iTunes) Screenshots: (Don't judge my music collection :p )

not keen on the fact that if you move the itunes start menu folder from the top menu into a submenu, it restores it BACK! ARGH!
Also dont want to have to give them my credit card details just to download the album artwork!!!!!!

You do though.
You have to have a storeID to use the album art feature and to have a storeID they need your CC details even though I've never bought from them (or never will) in my life.

pathetic

I didn't. I havent paid though for a song, just redeemed some using Coca Cola's offer they have.

Mine has finally started getting the album artwork, to get it to do this I had to disable the feature and then enable it again and it seems to have kicked it into doing something.
