iTunes: It's utter **** isn't it?

This really is a poor application isn't it, it's not just me surely that has severe problems with iTunes, even when running on my Mac's. I have spent today trying to sort out my iTunes Match music, trying to ensure it's all where it should be, duplicates removed, all uploaded etc. This has been going on for WEEKS and it seems to ALWAYS at some point crash or lose tracks that have been there for YEARS.

I got to the stage where all my duplicates were removed and all bar around 34 tracks were sitting in the cloud or associated with the cloud, happy days. Then I get the tell tale sign of a crash, fans running at Mach 10 and no response from any thing which basically means I had to reboot. I get back into iTunes and EVERY track is now showing an error.

It's not just this, whether it be updates to apps that seem to take an AGE to download and then minutes to complete once done, to iPhones/iPads that seem to go from rapid updates to HOURS, all of this leads me to conclude that this application is a crock of dog ****

I hear people moaning about the PC versions, but to me the Mac one is equally as bad and seems to be incredibly inconsistent and unreliable, most un Apple.

I haven't really had a problem with iTunes - but I agree it is becoming dated, and could do with a nice rewrite :) I'm betting it'll be a major part of the next OS update (After Mountain Lion I mean :p).

It is a bit clunky. It locks up now and then and can be very slow at times but it generally works. The only really dodgy thing I've found is WiFi sync seems to work or not work at will and totally at random but that's no major problem.

It's spectacularly bad, at least across the platforms I use. Within an hour of unwrapping my iPad3 iTunes crashed 4 or 5 times. And on Windows... I'm not even going to go there.

Oh God, I wish.

Horrible program. Have to physically disable it as an app in order to get it off media keys in OSX too, stupid stupid setup

Worst widespread application out there right now, simply put. Crashes all the time, is slow, and is just...hopeless.

Only reason I use it is because I've used it in the past, and because I hardly use it as it is. If I were to suddenly use it more, I'd use another application to sync music, and do all my apps through iCloud.

It crashed about 2 hours ago and now 85% of all of my music is showing error in the iTunes Match status column, before the crash it was perfect. I ******* HATE iTunes, HATE IT!!!

Going on history, I'll probably be accused of being a fanboy for this but the bottom line is that I quite like iTunes.

I've got a 1.55Tb library consisting of music, TV shows, apps and films and it works perfectly for me. It feeds two Apple TVs and a couple of iDevices.

Smart playlists are fantastic, build them properly and they're a great feature.

It's one of the two apps which I have set to auto-launch when I start my Mac, the other being Mail.

I've had the odd crash from it in the last few months where it would just close without any reason but those instances can be counted on one hand. I suppose technically that means it's the program which has crashed the most for me but the positives far outweigh that minor irritation.

I have all my music stored on my NAS so that can slow it down slightly, but reality is the application is written like a windows app.
