iTunes: It's utter **** isn't it?

My recent install of iTunes has duplicated every single track of my music collection, not in my music folder, just in iTunes.

Also sharing with my iphone works sometimes. Mostly not. Even rebooting both my PC and my iphone doesn't fix that all of the time.

The Windows version is utter garbage. So unreliable.

So do you think it was iTunes fault or that you maybe did something wrong when you reinstalled it?

I use it on both OSX and Windows. Generally it's not too bad, although the Windows version is considerably clunkier than the Mac version.

The one thing about iTunes which drives me absolutely nuts is that it won't let me copy music to my iPhone from both my Mac and my Windows PC. It wants to erase all the content on it before letting me sync to a different machine. It's 2012, Apple... why can't I sync music from two computers?

While we've got iTunes in the stocks, it never ceases to amaze me how searching the iTunes store has remained so terrible for so long.

That is one part that they need to get on top of soon. Apart from that, I have had very few issues with it. Most people I know that have had issues have problems with the settings and their gammy music folder structure. Seen plenty of people with their collection duplicated from a "copy to itunes folder when importing".

iTunes on Windows is a nightmare, seems fine on Mac. Crashes all the time, crashes halfway through syncing, takes 40 minutes to load up and keeps losing random files every now and again.

I use iTunes on Windows 7 and to be honest I have never really had any major issues
with it. Yeh the app has locked up a couple of time but thats all.

I use the iTunes Match service and it works fine for me, I have loads of music on there
and its brilliant since I have everything in the cloud now on my iPhone as well.

No problems from me with regards to iTunes.

The only thing I don't like about iTunes is it displays my Chinese songs as □□□□ instead of the proper Chinese writing.

I just added a folder with 20,000 songs well over 100gb of data. Itunes crashed and when i reloaded it it only had the 3145 songs that were in it before. It took literally hours to add those 20,000 songs so what ive got to do it again? And hope it doesnt crash?

I really don't see what the hold up is. It's not as if it's a fringe feature, there is a DIRECT financial incentive to provide better search results. Maybe they have too much money. :o

I'm finding generally, over the last few years, Apple are just pumping out software that is "good enough" (and sometimes not even to that standard) The next versions of OSX and iOS are just "safe" and not particularly inspiring.

These days it's very evident that they are a hardware company first and foremost. The software is pretty much there for the ride.

It's by far the best music playing app for me, how people don't like it i never know!

Especially compared to Windows Media player when I was on Windows, oh wow that was rubbish!!

love iTunes have done for years my collection is massive and i never have any problems, use it for all sorts from albums audiobooks movie and tv shows plus more, can't remember the last time it had a small hiccup

It's a POS. People should only use it if they have to (as have since I got my Ipad) As a music library it's just horrible. Winamp, Media Monkey, Foobar2000 for example are just much better.

Video playback doesn't seem to be GPU accelerated on windows. I have m4v files created with handbrake that use 1% CPU when playing with windows media player and 85% with iTunes - on a MacMini running bootcamp. Is fine in OS X.

Even on my main rig, iTunes video playback stutters. Others players are fine.

For music it's not too bad - I'm tied as in my household we have 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, Apple TV and iPods with iTunes match.

Are the people having problems with it using it on Windows?

I used to hate it on Windows - it used to go down more often than any piece of software I know. On OSX it actually seems to be useable.

Apple can't seem to write software for Windows.
