I've given up on hybrid power

I've just completed a run until the LPG ran out. I got 290 miles. It then cost me £36 to brim. So, considering the difference in cost, I guess that means I'm getting the equivalent of 46mpg. Hmm, could be better.

Thats 49.4L (11gal) of LPG to cover 290 miles, 26.6MPG ave

That doesnt sound too far off, the TT is not a particularly economical car at all and LPG will never match gasoline. Coming from an Insight though it will be heavy on the wallet even if the fuel is only 72.9ppl

And me!

Wahey!

Roll on spring!

Originally I was looking at a IS200d which the book states at 45mpg, with 175bhp, so 46mpg real world petrol equivalent with 225bhp is about the same I guess.

It just reminds me what an astonishing car the Insight is. I miss lean burn. Hmm, wonder if an Insight could take LPG..... :p

Oh, and I had a bit of a lesson in perspective today.

I pulled off a roundabout in front of a 911 earlier and gave it a bit of boost.

I lost. By a lot. :o :p

I'm confused. What do you get on a full tank of petrol? I get near bang on 400 miles on mostly country roads. I average at least 30mpg most of the time.

Yep. Someone put a deposit on it after a couple of days of advertising it on the insight forums. It was a bit quicker than I expected. I got it MOTd Tuesday so it's sold with a full 12 months, and he will be picking it up when he can get down here.

That fill up was at 72.9.

There's no smell of gas, so it might be running a bit rich. The whole system is probably due for a service and tune up.

I missed the equivalent of bit when you were talking about MPG :o

How would I know. I've only had it a few days!!

That sounds pretty similar to what this should be getting on petrol. However lpg gets less mpg per like for like litre.

No doubt over time I'll be able to test it all out , compare different fuel types and get a more accurate picture. I'll go over the car to check everything is running as it should, and at its optimum. At the moment, it's been ****ing it down all day and night and I've had little time to do anything other than get myself to work and back.

No reason why the insight wouldn't be able to handle LPG.

All of the taxi's here run LPG instead of diesel etc, but I'm noticing more and more Hybrid Camrys being used in Melbourne and Sydney, I'd imagine they're pretty cheap to run overall.

The insight has a special engine mode called lean burn where it drops the air fuel ratio to 21:1. Not sure how that would work on LPG. Everything else I'm sure would behave like any other car.

Yea that's pretty good. I fill up with £70 and that gets me 400. Has your TT got any of the common problems like bubbling roof rails, windows with minds of their own etc?

Got a couple of small bubbles on the rail. Other than that the car is spotless. Not even one parking mark. I'm a bit paranoid about parking it now! I've never had a car stay spotless for long.

I love these. I went to buy one though (a 180) and I didn't really fit in it. I could drive it but my legs started hurting after 5 min :(

I'm 6'2 and have got loads of room. Did you figure out the seat adjuster? It goes down and back when adjusted. I haven't even got it back all the way.
Any problems do far running on LPG?
No lpg problems. I've just had new tyres fitted, and the tracking done with new tie rods. Drives perfectly smooth and straight now.

Well, that's the end of that.

The engine snapped a cambelt so the TT is no more. Sods law, I had just spent £400 to replace a rear wheel bearing.

Snapped cambelt? How many miles had it done? Are you not suppose to replace this at a certain amount of miles?

you barely got 3 years out of it? how much did it cost you?
