no standard PCI at all? damn didn't think PCI was that close to being completely phased out? (Unless im reading it wrong)
No PCI on the chipset, so Intel are getting rid of it. Doesn't stop mobo manufacturers putting some kind of PCI-E to PCI bridge on it to reintroduce a PCI slot or two.
Yes it is the same as we have on the 6 series chipsets now.
Yeah? I thought PCI was still on Cougar Point?
and thank god. We need to move on. No more pci and no more ide
+1
Will this new platform be the replacement for 1366?
So with PCI-E v3.0 we could have graphics cards on x8 lanes and not have that small bottleneck?
The PCI slots should been phased out ages ago........no standard PCI at all? damn didn't think PCI was that close to being completely phased out? (Unless im reading it wrong)
PCI is far from dead, there's masses of PCI cards doing a perfectly fine job. When I upgraded to a Sandy Bridge system I deliberately went for a motherboard with two PCI slots so I could keep my Xonar DS sound card (and save £50 or so for a PCI-e equivalent) and because there wasn't even a suitable PCI-e replacement for my PCI satellite TV card available at the time.and thank god. We need to move on. No more pci and no more ide
This may be a problem, as I have a Xonar DG souncard, and I don't really want to have to splash out on a new card if I am upgrading to this![]()
