**IVY BRIDGE IN STOCK & AVAILABLE NOW!!**

Credit cards are useful. Protect you when buying online, give you points back to get free travel and used sensibly they cost nothing but actually save you money.

Not everyone uses a credit card because they can't save the money needed to buy something.

Lol. How couldn't anyone see that was a joke :p

Well I don't put a laughing smiley. Admittedly I don't follow timelines for new releases closely and wouldn't have been surprised if something was just around the corner especially as the GTx690 seems to be arriving so quickly after the 680 (isn't there usually a few months at least before the dual card flagship model arrives?), and things seems to be moving failry quickly at the moment (2011 CPU's, new mobo's)

Good point :p I assumed most everyone paid attention to these things sorry :)

Why are people moaning about the clock speed on Ivy Bridge say Ivy at 4.5Ghz is (from what Ive seen) around 10% faster than Sandy Bridge at 4.5Ghz. So the few hundred Mhz you get out of Sandy is nullified...

Wise man, if you can't afford something it's better to save up for it.

Better still, get a cash back credit card, save up for something, then use the card to buy it.

You get....

1. The convenience of using the card.

2. A bit more protection if something goes wrong with your purchase.

3. Cash back at the end of the year.

What you need to do is......

1. Pay off the monthly balance.

2. Have a bit of will power - treat it like cash, not credit.

In the 5 years I`ve had my cash back card, they've credited me well over £600.00. Which is nice.

Lmao chill out... I said "around 10%" and I think 8% counts as around 10%.... and my point was to say it was better

in only ONE test it gets 8%
It is around 5% and that is like 50% less than 10% isn't it ??

Around 10% constitutes as give or take 5%, you're just being picky and trying to be clever...

Err no. From most reviews I've seen the improvement is an average of about 5%.

Saying 10-15% does not put you in the correct ballpark. 10% itself is fairly innacurate and hence my original post.

Using your logic I could say the defference is -5% to 0% and supposedly be close to accurate.

It makes a large difference.

If I buy the i5 3450 whats the cheapest motherboard that I can use with it.

Note: Do not intend to OC but if the cheaper motherboard means 15%+ performance loss then leave it.

What would the main differences be between this:

and this:

...make sure its Z68 gen 3 or Z77 minimum, to get the best from your Ivy - tha'ts all I know!

Seriously confused with these chips. Can someone explain which is the sweetspot i7 to purchase? I see some have a lower power consumption but I dont know which is the best option.

In all honesty Im pretty sure it may have been Intel just quoting a somewhat close average of how much better they perform over SB or a few early reviews before they were properly being tested etc. I really can't remember which reviews I read it in since Ive literally read every Ivy review there is for my research mate :/ Im pretty sure you could come across them somewhere. But as Lord Zed states more realistically its 5-10% better performance most of the time.

I just do everything with visa debit, I've never needed to be in debit!

I could afford to stick it all on my debitcard, but I would rather wait till next month when I can stick it all on my credit card than risk useing my debit card online.

I know someone who recently had his entier bank account cleand out affter hackers got hold of his debit card details and then cloned his card, and bank has refused to help him and told him he wont get any of his money back.

Atleast with your credit card your coverd.
