I have this bought before Apple Store, so it's still showing as an item to purchase in App Store even though I believe it is now free. What am I missing and is it possible to upgrade my old version that I bought?

Its only free on a new IOS7 device if its not been registered previously.

So my old 4 was never registered - upgraded to IOS7 and registered and iWorks was then a free download via the app store.

To be clear, I am running the new versions on my iPad and iPhone, no problems there as both devices are running IOS7. I also have iWork on my MacBook which I have just taken to Mavericks this evening, but they were purchased in the days before App Store. I perhaps am misreading what was announced, but I was under the impression that iWork is now FOC on all platforms? If the is the case, then why in App Store does it show them at 13 quid each and not FOC.....or am I being a duffer?

If you buy a new iOS device you get the iWork iOS apps free. If you buy a new Mac you get Mac iWorks free.

Or if you get a new Mac delivered to work and your Apple ID is the first one that gets used on it, you get those apps free.

My iwork suite updated this morning, it was the old cd version.

Maybe it takes a bit of time to work its way through the system.

Cheers all

Careful about upgrading to the new iWorks folks... If it is anything like the iOS and iCloud version then it is SERIOUSLY gimped... Well it is either that or I'm missing stuff!

Yea mine too is upgrading this morning to the new version, something it has never done before. Seems it is FOC to everyone, not just those who bought it via App Store in the past as my version of iWork was a licensed trial version which you could do back in 2009/2010 as I recall.

Seriously thinking about dropping iWork for all my serious work. I already use Excel as Numbers is no longer up to the job (I work in 'science'). At this rate the only thing I can see my self using is Keynote and that is only because I keep my presentations simple and this new overhaul suits that.

Really? So if I install it from my CD I'll get offered the Appstore upgrades for free?

Answered my own Q. Good job I have a backup of the '09 iWorks.dmg. Just installed it and then App Store showed the free updates :)

Worth noting that your Macs may log out of the App Store after the update. So you may find that the iWork apps aren't appearing as free if you already own them. Log in, all will be sorted :)
