iWork Free, how?

I installed iWorks 09 and it asked me to update. I updated... removed the applications and they showed in purchased. Must be free to all old iWorks users....

They've completely ****** it up! That's what they've done!

Pages09 is an ageing program and lacked a lot of features, but this 'new' version is even worse! The only saving grace is that they MIGHT bring out a new 'pro' program which you then pay for. Much in a similar way that you have iPhoto and Apperture (although this is slightly different).

I'm holding off with the update, but by doing that I can't edit things on my iPad and use it on my Mac as both require the new version! Grrrr :mad:

What features have they removed, which most users would even notice?

I purchased it on CD back in 2009, just upgraded to the new version FOC. Seemingly both versions will coexist if you wish though.

its not picked up my iworks 09 nor the 09 version I have installed on my works mbp... I think an uninstall and reinstall is in order. does it have have to be on marvick before it will pick it up?

iWork would have to start causing me physical pain whenever it was running before I'd go back to Office on the Mac. What a terrible program.

Worked for me. Just downloaded the trial of some random host and installed it. Checked the App Store and the updates were there!

If you install iLife 11 you also get the updates.

EDIT: iLife 09' doesn't appear to work for the upgrade though!...

Can't believe I am going to say this, I still prefer Microsoft Word, luckily I can get the whole office suite through work for £10 !

Not true, I had CD version installed on my machine. The new versions showed up as an upgrade so I did that.

Updates could be a glitch.... I hope not...

I still have Microsoft Office 2011 installed as I am just testing the apps to see how I feel about them and so far iLife/iWorks does what I require.

Biggest improvement for me is performance. Old iWork was so sluggish. I just hope when i get to work they have features that i need that are in excel. I doubt it though...
