I don't really understand this. While I personally think that Boris was by far the least desirable of three candidates, I don't see why independent radio stations can't editorialise while newspapers are freely able to.
It is debatable whether newspapers should be allowed to abuse their power either. The Evening Standard and in particular Andrew Gilligan did a real hatchet job on Ken Livingstone throughout the election campaign.
Given that Ken lost by about 100,000 votes, it isn't stretching the boundaries of probability to assume that the anti-Ken media won the election for Boris Johnson. So much for democracy when a couple of right wing newspapers and radio stations can buy an election like that.
