January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned it in the thread but Liverpool terminated Doni's contract yesterday. For the past 7 months nobody has had a clue what's been going on with him - the official line was that he'd returned to Brazil for personal reasons but no journo had a clue and when asked, Rodgers refused to say anything. It's being reported in Italy today that Doni has a heart condition and that he nearly died during some medical tests at Liverpool last summer.

Really sad to hear if it's true.

Yea, I saw an interview of him talking about it. Pretty scary and also incredibly lucky that it happened while he was doing his medical checks at the start of pre-season.

It's getting difficult to ignore Ince now. I've only seen odd bits of him on the Football League show but as well as the 2 he scored last night for the u-21's, he's got 16 goals and 10 assists playing wide in a bottom to mid-table Blackpool side.

If we are going to still be in for him in the summer then I hope, as was reported in January, he's set on a move to us because if he keeps up this form until the end of the season he won't come cheap. With him only having 1 year on his deal then we'll hopefully be in a strong bargaining position come the summer.

Why is he a ****? He'll do whatever it takes to get as much money for his player as possible. They can ask what they like but if (and it's only an if) Ince is set on joining us and like he did in January, he rejects moves elsewhere then we hold all the cards. As much of a **** as you think Blackpool's chairmen is, he's not going to allow Ince to leave on a free in a years time.

As I said, if he's set on joining us. And re Oyston, it seems like he gets called a **** because he kicks up a fuss and makes it as difficult as possible for sides trying to sign his players, which is kind of his job.

No idea whether there's any truth in the stories but regardless, I can't see him leaving. I can't see anybody that's capable of paying the sort of fee Utd would want, being willing to pay it on Rooney.

We're taking it as fact that he's going nowhere because Fergie said so? Slightly naive given that he's not against telling the odd lie.

If Utd were looking to sell him, making it public knowledge wouldn't do them any favours.

Are you stupid?

No, are you?

I didn't say Utd were looking to sell him or not. As I said earlier in the thread, I have no idea if the stories are true however Fergie (or any manager) ruling the possibility out can hardly be taken as fact.

Regarding the stories - as a general rule, when every rag runs the same story it's a sign that something's there. That doesn't mean the story is necessarily true but they've been briefed by somebody, whether that be the club, player or an agent. It's not a coincidence that they all ran the same story on the same day.

It's almost like there was a big game he didn't start a couple of day ago :)

Every newspaper running the exact same story? Still a bit of a coincidence don't you think? Then again, you thought the stories about Rooney wanting to leave the other year were just bs made up by the press too.

There's plenty of **** journos who'll randomly make stuff up but as above, when they're all writing the same thing, it's a pretty good sign they've been briefed.

Yeah it'd be a huge coincidence. None of them had postulated it during/before the match even, looking at their tweets. Had to be a briefing. Thanks for clarifying things for everyone :)

That's why the stories went out on the Tuesday night/Wednesdays papers after the game? Oh, they didn't. It was nice of all the rival newspapers to wait until the Wednesday night/Thursday papers before running the story. :o

As above, it sounds just like the last time their was speculation about Rooney. It's all bs made up by the press:

edit: and to be clear (as there's bound to be somebody that gets confused), I'm not saying the reports are true, just that I suspect that the press have been briefed by somebody.

Didn't take much chasing down. We all know you don't like to post much, just the occasional snipe without adding anything to the debate.

edit: I'd love to know your explanation as to why all the rival papers waited until the Thursday before running the story (which true or not, was a big story that would sell well) if it's simply made up purely on the back of him not starting vs Real.

No, you didn't say there wasn't, you just tried to mock me saying there could very well have been a briefing.

Regarding the sales point - the rags were only guaranteed a certain amount of sales as every paper was running the match reports/ref issue. If the story was simply off the back of him not starting, you'd have thought that at least 1 might have run the story in the Wednesday papers, just to give them a different angle to all the rest.

Anyway, I don't particularly care. As I've said, I think it would be a massive coincidence if somebody hasn't briefed the press. If you disagree, fine.
