Jesus Christ let they guy learn a new language, who cares what his reasons for learning are? He wants to learn something new that should be celebrated not torn to shreds over babblings by people who have no idea why the op wants to learn it, and have instead formed their own opinions based on nothing but stereotypes.

Let that be a lesson, learning a language can result in either slavery or being beaten. Dont do it its too dangerous.
 
Princey, give Kosta a shout (ScoobyDoo69) I'm sure I saw something on facebook about him learning Japanese at birmingham uni, I could be wrong though.

This is a good post, its not technically great but its from the heart and has its merits formed from a weighted good opinion.
 
I thought you'd love East Asia, Herpderp? Especially considering they have prolific sex trades; there could be some good business for you there.
 
Look on the rainforest for Oxford Take Off in Japanese. It's £14 and excellent at getting you started from nothing. Will teach you about the basics, grammar and by the end of the whole thing you'll be exceptionally versed in conversational Japanese. It's a paperback book along with 3/4 CD's (rip them to your MP3 player). Do an hour a night and within a month you'll be doing better than any beginners course.

Used it when I was preparing to go to Japan for TEFL before the market bottomed out and I found it suprisingly easy to pick up.
