Japanese Grand Prix 2014, Suzuka - Race 15/19

The medical helicopter thing is a bit confusing. First someone said it wasn't there, then it was. Then they said it couldn't fly because of the conditions, but then it could, as people claim it took off. And then they claimed it couldn't have taken him due to pressure changes, but then that was confirmed not to be true by an F1 doctor.

Do we have any official line on the helicopter? If i was being cynical I'd say there's just a lot of ass covering going on to ensure the circuit has an excuse as to why it wasn't used.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jules Bianchi at this horrible time but on the race...

Does anyone else feel as though Button demonstrated 100 percent why Mclaren should retain him and not k mag next year....

K mag pirouhetting around turn 1 not once but twice and and generally racing at the back whilst button again for the thousandth time showed great tactical decisions, great driving and didnt put a foot wrong.

Mclaren need to wake up if they are thinking of keeping k mag instead. I like him but they have to keep button, even if i am biased.

You just can't stop yourself, can you!

Was a good race for Jenson, not sure why your post has angered someone though?

Well apparently he has had head/brain surgery and is now in intensive care, breathing on his own. With an official announcement on the horizon.

Take with pinch of salt as no official announcement seems to have been made yet.

The last official statement
: “The driver was removed from the car, taken to the circuit medical centre and then by ambulance to Mie General Hospital.

“The CT scan shows that he has suffered a severe head injury and he is currently undergoing surgery. Following this he will be moved to intensive care where he will be monitored.

“Mie General Hospital will issue an update as soon as further information becomes available.”

I would be VERY surprised if the helicopter was allowed to fly in those conditions , I have heard previously that patients (in general) aren't allowed to fly due to air pressure changes and considering the severity of what happened this wouldn't be surprising.

I just think its a case of mixed messages coming out from different sources because they aren't in the loop

Maldonado pitted for tires as well, when you're further back and have little to lose it's easier to make a big decision, but he was as tactically aware as Maldonado or anyone else. If Hamilton, Rosberg, Vettel or anyone else was 10 cars down in a track that is hard to overtake on they might take the "risk" as well.

As for comparing him to Magnussen, he got a puncture and had to pit again after 4 laps on his tires afaik, did he not spin because of that, I genuinely don't know what made him spin. But after a puncture and having to do an extra pitstop it's not entirely surprising he would be pushing harder and trying riskier moves.

It doesn't actually matter how good Button is or isn't, he's better than Magnussen is TODAY, no one has disputed that, the question is where will they both be in 3 years, Magnussen could be a top driver(or crap) button will most likely be retired... which driver do you get rid of for Alonso, the one who has a potentially long future or the one on his last legs who while better isn't actually good enough anyway. Alonso is better than Button, Button won't be around for long and frankly neither will Alonso. The second spot on the Mclaren team should be looking for the driver who will continue to hopefully win AFTER Alonso leaves, they are looking for the next top driver, Button that is not.

But again comparing him to a guy who had a puncture which clearly ruined his race is just ridiculous.

Skeeter read all those things on here said by people on this forum who really don't have any idea what was going on. He himself said the helicopter was not there until someone pointed out it was. So there is really not much confusion and he makes it sound like all the different info came from the track which is strange.

So I was correct:)

Just learnt that one of McLarens long time sponsors has jumped ship. Hugo Boss has moved it's support across to Mercedes
End of an era of that's true, I'm sure that's one of the longest, if not THE longest sponsorship deal in F1 history.

As for Bianchi, those latest pictures do not look good at all. Wishing him luck.
