Japanese Grand Prix 2015, Suzuka - Race 14/19

Back on topic. What would people's thoughts be if verdtappen done this move?

I would have said it was ballsy, but he has the right to take his line. As I said upstream, any driver that puts himself on the outside of a bend behind a car on the racing line in an attempt to overtake the long way round is putting himself in a vulnerable position where he relies on the charity of the driver on the inside. That's a foolish place for any driver to put themselves unless they have an overwhelming advantage in grip, speed and traction.

We constantly see drivers pushed out wide on bends by the inside car (when we actually have some wheel to wheel racing), because it's a weaker position to be in. We saw it a lot at the Suzuka chicane, but there the drivers have the sense to back out when they see it coming and lose the racing line, rather than stick with it and be forced onto the grass or into a collision.

I dunno if Rosberg thought he would intimidate his way around the outside, or if he thought Hamilton would let him off because he's a team mate, but I would guess that difference in attitude is why Hamilton is dominating Rosberg. Hamilton takes his passes, Rosberg waits to be given them.

That, or you really need an eye test. Or a better monitor. It's pretty clearly this_is_gav, not this_is_gay.

v ---------------- y

v ------------- y

Rocket science, apparently :D

I've actually misread it myself a few times. It's the underline on user names, which as you can see in the small example above makes the stalk of the Y almost invisible. Combined with justifiably low expectations of people on the internet it's hardly surprising when your brain automatically sees the worst.

My point exactly. To be a champion you have to have ego and ruthlessness a mile wide. In fact, if people get past you without a fight, your team principle wants to know why you didn't fight harder.

If you're not racing to get and keep places, and to win, then what are you out there for?

There is nothing 'worst' about it, reading news, forums, the word gay must be read by most people dozens of times a day. gav is something almost never seen. 'this is gay' is something said either in mean spirit or in jest frequently, 'this is gav' is almost never seen. Reading is all about recognising groups of words which is why those memes I mentioned work.

gay is an incredibly frequent widely used word seen everywhere all the time, the underline masks the same part on the g, but we don't recognise nor are at all used to seeing aay, or oay, so we instantly recognise that as a g, but the v as a y for the very same reason.

Bloody heck that is a bizarre move from Pastor there. Entirely off the track, just drives into the side of Hamilton for no reason at all. First time I saw this one.
Because Hamilton drove him off the track? If there wasn't tarmac the otherside of the line, Pasta would have had to back off, but because there was, I guess he thought he could keep the power in. Could have had the same outcome in Japan if there wasn't dirt the otherside of the line.

It was a stupid move by Pasta to think he would be able to get back on to the track and take an inside line, but Hamilton should have realised that he was likely to come back on to the track, given his reputation.

Doesn't matter how you end up off the track, once you are off the track you can't simply drive back on it into the side of someone.

What if Pastor had just out braked himself and ended up out there on his own? You wouldn't be saying it was fine for him to drive into the side of Hamilton then, would you?

The incident is made up of 2 very isolated 'things'. A driver squeezing another off the track, and a driver rejoining the track in an unsafe way. You can't justify one because of the other. Would it have been ok for Pastor to have punted Hamilton at the next corner instead? Maybe somewhen on the next lap? Or the next race? What if he waits until they retire, in 60 years time, comes up to Hamilton and hits him over the head with a walking stick shouting "that's for squeezing me off the track in 2012!", would that be ok?

Wow, hold on. I thought his username was 'this_is_gay' for years before someone pointed out it was a v. Its entirely possible the guys just misread his name, before you go off on one.

Jumping straight in for an argument over what could be a simple mistake... yeah some people ey... :p

lol i actually thought it was the same aka "this is gay"

DM put that bloke to his place though so dont worry
